Forest Kit (With out negitivity)

Sickhead said end of may too right? Do we have a cost tagged yet? or preorder?

I read somewhere in the Forums that Sickhead games want to make sure they get it correct the first time and seem to be waiting to test Forest Kit on a stable T3D release which is comendable given that this plugin has been long anticipated and if it does have bugs they will be overwhelmed with complaints. So can't blame them for testing this thoroughly. Also I read somewhere that the terrain in T3D now is not the final terrain, whatever that means. There's a good chance that this will have an effect on the Forest Kit.

The ForestKit will ship shortly after T3D does... until T3D ships you won't see or hear anything more about it.

Nah, we are sitting here almost pissing our pants waiting for some swooch for our tree's and bushes :)

EDIT : Btw tom, anything we need to know to prepare our assets to be used with this system ?

Like naming, bones to add, or whatever ? (would be nice to have assets ready for when it comes , i got like 100 tree's and ALOT more bushes.

Not really. Trees and plants are set up just like any other simple shape with multiple LODs. The only difference will be an autobillboard detail marker in the hierarchy and vertex coloring information for the wind effects (no bones or rig used for that). You may want to brush up on your modeling app's vertex coloring features.

Edit: and this has been mentioned before, but Collada now gives us the ability to use 2 UV sets, which can be helpful in breaking up the repetitiveness of bark textures. But multiple UVs is not exclusive to the Forest Kit, of course.

I know their is still not a lot of information on the forest kit like the price or the date but can you fill us in on what type of trees are in this pack? or will it come with a lot of preload tree inside of this kit? The reason why I ask because I was thinking of purchasing the Veg pack that on sale this week but if the forest kit has these type of trees in it their, then their is no reason to purchase this pack.

what is it with this piece meal addon code setup. Gees, to replicate half of the functions i am going to have to rebuy updates for just about everything GG currently has. Now should i expect to buy a Kit then have to buy content for said kit seperately?

Im seeing alot of this Kit stuff with t3d. 3rd party Kits too, which would seem to me a bad bad way to go, considering the number of 3rd party kits that have had to be dropped due to lack of support from GG in the past. What Gauruntee do we have with these packs that support will be continued say to t3d 1.5 or such?

Perhaps the videos of it beeing used should have not been posted if nobody is interested to say anything more than that even after the announced point of time (T3D release)

I have great patience, and respect, for everything that Sickhead has done and is still doing for Torque3D.

What they choose to do with their tech and when/how they choose to disseminate information about it is their decision -- and only their decision -- regardless of how much you/I/we may want it.

I'm more than happy to wait. Anticipation can be such a wonderful thing :D

My wife also keeps saying that. I still have trouble seeing that side of waiting for something. :)

Still, I completely agree with you, Michael. Tom said somewhere that we will be happy about the Forest Kit, and that's more than enough for me to be already satisfied with it. ;)
