Wanted: Your Indie Game Screen Shots!

by DavidRM · in General Discussion · 01/03/2003 (2:23 pm) · 8 replies

You can:
* Get exposure for your indie game!
* Be an inspiration to future generations of indies!
* Help that RM guy get his book done! :)

As some of you know, I am working on a book about indie game development for Charles River. And I need illustrations to pretty-up the text of the book.

What better illustrations could there be than screen shots of existing indie games???

So, if you would like to have a screen shot of your game included in The Indie Game Developer Survival Guide, due out later this year, please send me your screen shots!

Here's what you need to send:
* Full-size screen shot (no resizing)
* PNG or GIF format (JPG is too lossy)
* In-game action shots are preferred, but pretty title screens might be acceptable
* 1-3 different screen shots, for variety and choice
* Include: full name of game, your name or company name, game Web page URL, date of initial release

Completed games are preferred, but if you expect to complete your game the first half of 2003, or if you're just damn proud of your screen shot, send it along.

Send them to: davidrm@samugames.com

Those who send in screen shots will need to give permission to use them in the book. I will send you the necessary form to sign to cover that after I've chosen the images I want to use.

Many thanks!

-David

How long do we have to get you something? I would love to give my team that kind of exposure, but I've only started development of my first build.

I have the same question as Jeremy. In about a month I will have lots of very pretty screens to choose from, but at the moment I am just beginning to move out the placeholder art and put in the final stuff. Does this time frame still allow me to contribute or is a month too long to wait?

I'd prefer to have the screen shots before the end of January, but the book's actual deadline is later than that. So, let's say you have until the end of February.

Thanks!

David,

Although we are not due for a release until end of March, I think we could manage some pretty interesting shots around the end of Feb.

I'll contact you around then with some pretty cool screenshots.

We'll try earlier but if we miss the deadline then I'll just post them to the Dev Snapshots section.

All the best,

- Melv.

Phil, Melv,

Be glad to take whatever you can send me. I look forward to seeing them!

Make sure at least one screen shot includes a banana, though...or it's no deal... ;-)
