iTGB: no more fee per game?
by Michael K. · in Torque Game Builder · 01/16/2009 (12:31 am) · 31 replies
I just found the itgb site (for anyone looking for it: http://www.garagegames.com/products/torque-2d-iphone) and was wondering if the $100 (indie) / $500 (commercial) fee per game has been dropped (which would be really great)? Because i can't seem to find where i can buy an additional game license.

Thanks for the answer Michael! That's great news :)

It's great that you updated this and told people in IRC, but as long as the license is the license, it's legally binding moreso than a forum post would be. Is there an ETA on an actual EULA license and will it be worded in such a way or be made available to people who already have it?
Not that I have it, but it's important that without a new license, anybody who bought it under those terms would be bound to those terms until agreeing to new terms.

No ETA was provided to me, just that the product page and EULA are being updated. Still, we are not going to come after you with crack team of lawyers and blunt objects. There have been misunderstandings with licensing in the past, and we've always worked through them as quickly as we can to make sure you get your game out without any licensing hitches.

I'm the one who asked in IRC Michael. Thanks for clearing this up and posting it in the forum. If everything goes well I'll be pulling the trigger on iTGB this weekend.

Nice! I know this thread is old but that is actually a big deal. Trying to start a business is kind of more expensive than I thought it was going to be. Still need to pay for creating my LLC and buy some hardware and licenses. Just got out of some major debt so including the first shipped game with the itgb license makes a big difference to me when I'm trying to keep my costs at a minimum.

Just as an update, the $100 fee per title has been changed in the EULA too. iTGB Indie is now just $500 flat for unlimited games, with no royalties to us.

(original post removed). I really shouldn't post when I've been coding all day and am tired. I thought they were *introducing* a per-game fee. My sincere apologies!

Err...wot? Deborah just stated a week ago, two posts above yours, that there is no per-game fee!

BTW, the 71squared video tuts are awesome. I'm *always* skeptical of video tutorials for programming. These and the Microsoft VS 2005 Express videos for C# were pretty slick.

We will be changing the wording on the product page, but here's the short answer:
For Indies:
iTGB License: $500. That allows you to ship 1 title.
Each title after that is $100.
