The more I look at Houdini Apprentice HD and play through the tutorials, the more I am convinced I am in love with this software.
It's amazingly sophisticated and generally fast and easy to make models.
I admit I am no artist through the use of software and I was hesitant at first to give Houdini a try.
What sold me on Houdini was when the exporter was finished and the license was made to suit Indies the same way GG did for Indies. Basically they are very similar in terms of when you'll need to buy a commercial license.
The online tutorials get into specific details and walk you through a process. Once your familiar with that process then you would then have a new "tool" of knowledge you can reflect upon when your considering making a new Model.
The Link above is a QuickTime movie that will walk you through the modeling and rendering of a Spoon.
Amazingly fast this model was made in about a minute.
I had to pause the movie and find the Tab or Option to follow the video, so It took me about 30 minutes to get a complete render.
I think with a few run throughs I'll know the steps to memory.
Anyways, my first model with Houdini is the spoon you see in the tutorial and mine matches pretty close except it's brass colored.
The entire reason for this post is to give Houdini a 2 thumbs-up. And hope that more Devs learn this awesome tool,
And hopefully submit Art that we can buy and import right into Houdini HD.
