we published new model pack - Middle east city model pack
32 oriental city models: 13 houses + 13 LOD versions, 2 low-poly buildings, palm tree model, power pole, street poles and garage models.
2 houses have interiors!

But however, models are fantastic and can be used for all kind of shooters, even fantasy stuff, just get out antenas street lamps, etc and you will get fantasy pack :)

HM, you are right, oriental is more for china and japan style if I know good. We choosed bad name I am very sorry about this. I will fix it. Thank you very much. Without your notice we will never realize that :(But however, models are fantastic and can be used for all kind of shooters, even fantasy stuff, just get out antenas street lamps, etc and you will get fantasy pack :)

Yes, there is also a ruined building in the pack. Some other are a bit wasted.

Guys if you made some more LODs nextime, the pack could work for RTS games as well :)

Lods have only from 20-100 triangles so they will be perfect for collision models. You cant use them only in houses with interiors, for that you must make collision models for yourself
I suggest that you open milkshape format and when export to Torque just select LOD model for collision mesh and you will get perfect model with colision

I just bought this, and it appears the LODs are actually separate dts files with their own separate textures, rather than being set as LODs within the main dts file. How do you use them in-game then?

You have to switch them by code. When house is 1000 units far from camera then place LODs instead of main model. Its easy to program that. Mian model and LOD are the same size so it will be completely unnoticable when switch is made

Hmm ok... seems a very strange way to do it when DTS supports proper LODs though..

I played around with integrating LOD and collision models directly into the DTS files. I made this for 3 models of this pack and tested it in TGE at the weekend and it worked fine. So if somebody needs that badly for the entire pack then just write me a mail.

That is exactly the point why I want to get the feedback. We simply want to know if there is only one person or if there are more developers wanting us to do so.
We work very hard at Dexsoft and we try to publish a new pack every week. So we have to set very strong priorities for our precious time (we still do all that at nights or at weekends).
If there is not much interest in this task then I would rather finish our vegetation pack or some new packs.
But if more potential customers need it badly then we are willing to change our task list.

It might be enough if you describe in a fair amount of detail what needs to be done to integrate the LODs and collision models into the DTS files. Sort of a Belgian compromise (we're good at that sort of stuff I'm being told all the time :-) ). That way, with a small investment in time, the users that need it can take care of it themselves. And when the integration of the LOD and collision data becomes a major selling point, you can choose to do it later. But your customers can do it already.

I could pretty much work out myself the whole process, but would be useful to have the extra LODs.
Just an idea for the next pack ;)

@Frank, yeah I clearly read about the LOD included with each model, I was meaning maybe some more next time? the jump is just too big, 4000-5000 polys to 100. You see, for an RTS thats pretty much complicated, While the camera zoom in and out, the transitions must be smooth, but at the same time aware of the performance issues.I could pretty much work out myself the whole process, but would be useful to have the extra LODs.
Just an idea for the next pack ;)
