No sound at all in TGEA

WE (Plastic Games) have noticed that for some computers the new SFX system is not running sounds at all while other systems are only running certain sounds.
For instanc,e our HP workstations with Realtek Audio (drivers and DX full updated) are not playing any sounds. While other machine in the company also with Realtek Audio run only certain sounds, we have not isolated why certain sounds work and other do not as of yet. BUT all the sounds do work in TGE just not TGEA head.
My question to GG: Is Fmod a required? Have you seen these issues with audio before?

At this point I am pretty much inclined to disable the ability to use it at all.

If you are using FMOD, using software is the way to go anyways, as youll probably get better sound and performance wise, theres not as much hit as people suspect.
Plus, most cards barely support HW Sound, even then, its very limited on feature set

HW sound has a whole has always been problematic and questionable, as to true benefits, unless you were using something like Creative's XRam features in OpenAL.If you are using FMOD, using software is the way to go anyways, as youll probably get better sound and performance wise, theres not as much hit as people suspect.
