Rts Kit?

Does anybody know if the RTS kit will work with TGEA 1.7? I can't get access to the RTS forum until it's purchased, so I thought I would ask here. Anybody know, or attempted to get it working yet?

OK thanks - was really interested mainly in the camera and moving features for a jumping off point, but I guess I will just have to muddle it on my own :) Thanks for the post.

It's been a while since I messed with the RTS kit, but I did at one point convert it to TGE 1.5 and which ever version of TGEA was current at the time (1.0.3 i think?), without much trouble... The code side of the kit is not super complex, and is really just thinned down versions of existing classes, so with that said, if you are relatively comfortable with the code side of things in TGE land, you could probably get the major parts (camera, units, selection, etc.) converted over to TGEA 1.7..

Brian, if you're going to buy the RTS kit, it is worth it and you can get some very good help from the community, but if you're only buying it for the camera, then it's just best to ask here or in the TGE forums, someone may have a trick or two for you.

Andrea, yes TGE 1.5.2 has, but not TGEA 1.7 and the TGE update was done by the RTS community, namely Novack and James, not Garage Games. The RTS Kit is good if you are going to an RTS, but it isn't really applicable for other game genres...plus the no collision detection was a bit of a disappointment for me...

There is the advanced camera resource available in the resources section, that would be a good place to start for you. I am currently working on porting it over to TGEA, hopefully I should finish that soon and I could put it up as a resource. The RTS Kit is good if you are going to an RTS, but it isn't really applicable for other game genres...plus the no collision detection was a bit of a disappointment for me...
