Torque X 2 Eula - installer versus web

by Tom Ogburn · in Torque X 2D · 03/13/2008 (5:02 pm) · 2 replies

The Torque X 2 installer Eula says:

Quote:
3. LICENSE GRANT.

Licensor grants Licensee a single 'seat' to an individual, a limited non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Engine for the purposes of making source code and object code for an unlimited number of electronic single or multi-user Games ("Games"). This License Agreement only permits multi-user Games through the use of multiple control mechanisms (up to eight control mechanisms) on a single machine and does not apply to multi-user games in which more than one player is using the Games through a network of any sorts. A control mechanism is any device that is directly connected to the machine to direct input commands and data to control the game.

On the website it is listed under '2. LICENSE GRANT' and doesn't place the limit on multiplayer games to a single machine.

Which is correct?
Assuming the installer EULA is and the website just hasn't been updated from 1.0, then will there be an upgrade price from Indie to Commercial for those of us who want to create multiplayer games, or will we have to buy an entirely new license?

Thanks,
Tom

Thomas was looking into this in a previous version. He said it shouldn't be that way (as displayed), so perhaps the web version was updated but the file was forgotten. Thomas, if you're out there, could you please clarify this?

Just checked. The Torque X 2.0 installer has the incorrect EULA displayed. An update to the installer will probably be going out soon.
