Export DTS from Max 9?

Has anyone gotten *any* of the Max 9 exporters working for characters? I can export simple shapes just fine, but the character models I've tried *crash* Max.
I've tried the exporters available from these locations:
http://www.garagegames2.com/web/exporters/max2dtsExporter_max9.zip
http://www.noolness.com/downloads/torqueExporterMax9-32bit.zip
http://powaz.free.fr/max2dtsExporterPro_for_Max9.zip
And I've tried to export the following models:
TGE_1_5_2\example\demo\data\shapes\player\player.max
TGE_1_5_2\example\demo\data\shapes\tge_elf\ElfSorceress.max
AdamPack_update_6_28_05\AdamPack.max
The last thing in dump.html is always:

Adding skin object from skin "bodymesh" to bone "Bip01 Spine" (18).
Generating faces for skin "bodymesh".
Adding object named "bodymesh".
Adding mesh of size -1 to object "bodymesh".

Everything exports fine in Max 8. It's Max 9 that's the problem. Do these plugins even work?
