PC CPU heaven - 07 Q2 Price cuts

by Vashner · in General Discussion · 04/21/2007 (10:17 am) · 5 replies

Woah got to love these new AMD and Intel price cuts.

I am waiting to order an E6700 Core 2 Duo (C2D). Supposed to go down to lower $300's.

That should happen starting Monday. Newegg has the E6600 C2d for $235.

AMD's also have some good prices. Athlon AM2 6000+ (get rid of the plus already AMD geeze).
is only $250.

The impact for PC gamers and PC developers is another step towards better performing game
platforms. With fast CPU's starting at $60 bucks now there is No Excuse to upgrade. :0

Just say no to chop...

Hoorah, I checked the E6600 yesterday on Newegg, and it was $310. I am building myself a new computer in about a month, and this is gonna help a lot.

It's not so much about excuses as it is about knowledge. Many people, when asked what kind of PC they have will simply tell you the brand name, rather than any USEFULL information. I mean, anybody who's serious about gaming usually doesn't buy any brand anyways, even Alienware. They're all built by the same guys in asia, and they always mark up the price. There are also plenty of little shops(where i live anyways) that'll assemble it with your requested parts for free.

Most people will walk into Frys or wherever and ask for a computer that will let them do *insert your pick*. I mean, as if it isn't bad enough that they didn't try to avoid the sales people at all costs. Then the sales person sells them whatever is new, in stock, and at the highest price the person is willing to pay. This applies to the general populations of just about every computer using group or demographic you can think of (except proffesionals who's jobs directly deal with computers, or computer programs).

That's my opinion anyway.

EDIT for Clarity

Yea in the old days it was different when buying a machine.

That was before computers became an "appliance".

It was serious business. I remember even the radio shacks all had to hire the "computer guy".

Some poor dude would be dragged out to explain the TRS80's etc.

Anyway HELP.. these price cuts have me addicted..

I built 3 Core 2 Duo boxes so far after the cuts.. Let me say the E6700 is the shiznat.

Super Pi in 19 seconds.. :)

My 3.2 641 P4 does it in 40 seconds. Twice as fast :0

BTW parts I recommend.
ABIT IB9 P956 ATX (overclocking board $120)
MSI P965M and 965M-FI uATX (with firewire).. I got 3 of these for less than $70 bucks OEM each :)

Memory GSkill 444 and 555 (Only $100 bones for 2 sicks of 1 GB 555's 800mhz :) )

400 gig SATA WD drives $95 bucks OEM :)

Video 8800 GTS, 8600 GTS, 8600 GT.

Avoid the 8500 it's got crap cap's... It's just not worth it.

@Vasher

Have you successfully run either TGE or TGEA on the E6700? When I build again I want to jump to 64-bit but avoid the system problems I've seen reported.

Yea it runs just fine. I am running it on XP home 32 bit sp2.

I plan on putting vista premium 64 on another drive so I can have dual boot.

The processor is not a problem any of them will work fine. Only issues with
the games is Vista's directX 10. Which is being worked on by GG and the members.

The faster the better. July 22nd is next Intel price cut.

Also note the Intel Bearlake is coming out.. Already built they are on Embargo till June 4th
P35 and G33 chipset series.
