Texture Error

by Benjamin Hall · in Constructor · 04/12/2007 (12:39 pm) · 4 replies

I cannot import ANY textures. It will take .gif, .jpg, .png and .bmp but when I select a file and hit "ok" it says, "Chosen file is not a recognized texture format".

How can I learn to use software that doesn't provide one of the most basic needs?

It will import textures, I have over 1700 textures imported 512x512 JPG and PNG.

What i did was;
First make a folder in the Constructor/textures folder, gave this NEW folder a name.

Make other NEW folders under this NEW folder, One for my WOOD textures/ one for ROCK, like that for each TYPE of texture i have. (If you just dump a mass of them into a folder and import it will make Constructor sluggish.)

Once you have your textures copied over, click menu option 'Materials' notice the icon's on the lower left?
Find the one that say "ADD A NEW ALBUM" , Name your Album.
Find the icon that say "Add all textures in a directory to the selected Album" , wait for it...
And repeat as need. After i was done with the importing textures, i made a backup of the file called 'albums.db'

Greetings!

Are you perchance attempting to add a texture from a drive other than the one you have Constructor installed on? Another user has reported this being an issue and we've recently tested the same here. We'll have a fix for it in the next release.

Ok so thats the reason, I have 2 drives on my system and was getting the same error as I loaded textures off the other drive to where Constructor is installed. I thought he program was broken, thanks for the heads up!

Son of a gun,

Yeah, that was it. I have a massive texture library on drive E: that I was just linking to. It seems like a program path error.

Great! Thanks all!
