Some concerns.

by Sorin Daraban · in Constructor · 04/12/2007 (10:30 am) · 2 replies

I don't know if it's my laptop or if it's Constructor, but when I relight my scene and choose the viewport to be rendered as "Shaded", everything (brushes, shapes and portals) are black. But when I rotate the camera to the rear of the structure, everything relights to normal. Anybody else has this problem?

Also in "Mapped" mode, the interiors and areas not affected by the Sun (shadows) are very dark (black). Even the Null textures that I use for portals get rendered black.

Speaking of portals, which option should I select to export my DIF with portals: Export as TGEA Legacy DIF or export->map2dif_TGEA?
If I use "Export as TGEA Legacy DIF", I get 1(one) frame per second in TGEA 1.0. The other one does not work past "parsing BSP."

Specs:

Toshiba Qosmio.
nVidia GeForce Go 128 MB.
Intel Pentium 2.0 GHz.
Original nVidia laptop drivers.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

The shaded mode uses OpenGL rendering to light the scene, make sure your video drivers are up to date.

There's a bug in 1.0 that stops the sun's ambient from affecting the light maps - but you should at least see some direct lighting.

To my understanding you use legacy for any version prior to 1.5.1.

i had similar problem with the blackening of my brushes when viewing in torque. this was before i seen they released the 1.5.1 version of torque to go along with the constructor.

however even in the prior version being of 1.5, i was able to export in legacy mode without a problem. as far as textures go.
