NewTek Announces Special LightWave Deal for Game Developers

Greetings!

I thought I'd pass along a special offer that NewTek has for game developers. Until July 31st, you can purchase LightWave 7.5 for US$995 for PC and Mac. The regular price is US$1595. Here's the link:

You'll notice that you have to pick a competitive product from a list prior to purchasing LW as a game developer. I asked a NewTek sales rep about this, and here's the response:

"The Game Developers Special is a new offer and all you enter is a product that you have used before or currently own. After you choose one, it will allow you to order. We are just getting a feel for the most popular 3D animation tool used by game developers."

So there ya go. Also, for those that are interested, there's a special student price of US$395 for LW7.5; but I'm sure there are a number of licensing restriction for its use. Go to the 'Buy Now' section of the NewTek site.

Enjoy!

That's still a month's rent!!! Yikes! Seriously, it's good to see even the slightest decrease in price. Hopefully major companies will realise that the independant gaming market is growing, and will offer specials accordingly to those on small budgets.

Greetings!

I just wanted to remind everyone that this US$995 deal for LightWave 7.5 is still on going. The new link may be found here:

Also on the site is a tutorial to get LightWave objects into UT2003. And an exporter isn't even required! :o)

Enjoy!

They also offer the Discovery Edition, which is nearly the full program, for free for non-commercial use. I just received it, but it appears the exporter even works! :)

Of course, you will need to buy the license if you wish to make money off of it, but it's a great way to learn a professional 3D package or start working on your game until you are able to purchase it.
