Maya only? Kinda limits your art talent pool?

And a secret TILL they want to join?

What I meant by secret until join is, most of the Work that has been done and most of plots what're currently established won't be told to the public.

Also yes, we cannot pay for a lil while due to how poor we guys are Lol.

This project maybe under new management, since I am only 15 years old with 5 years experience of C++, I even built my own Game Engine to prove it, it's not as good as the Torque Engine, but it's good for one person that built it. I didn't get any help on it, so really, I plan on making' it better and getting' it licensed, idk yet. Due to my age I cannot pay because the lack of money I own, so therefore a new founder that'll pay may come to hand.

There're adults on this team too, so it's not just kids.

Also this started out as a hobby for me using my own Engine, but now I got a few adults and lawyers and all that. This project is going a lot further than I thought I could make it go even with the help or not.

Also the idea of a new founder is because not many people feel safe working for a kid, we could've had like 20 people already, but most didn't like the idea of a 15 year old running this whole organization.

I would suggest a bit more flexible plan and to seek more input on how you want to do this.

Your putting a lot of pressure with that lofty goal.

Ever watch Kung Fu? There is a phrase which I think of reading your plan.

Master Po Says
Quote:"'I have three treasures which I hold and keep. The first is mercy for from mercy comes courage. The second is frugality from which comes generosity to others. The third is humility for from it comes leadership.'

I don't know what you're getting at but, at your 1st pos where you said, that using Maya is Limited. Well, if I had them use Maya, 3DsMax and MilkShape3D then all the models would look weird also the animations wouldn't look right either. So when you stick to one program then all the models have like the same lighting.

You seem to need people to do everything for you.

If you want to recruit a team, show that you have done something on your own first.

The MMO-kit has most things set up for you, so you just need one programmer after its completed.

You don't have a writer, any artist, or a level designer yet? Shouldn't you be able to do at least one of these things on your own? And you don't even have a website yet.

Ok heres the gist gents.
1) to 'Mr.' Lundmark. Your comments and pathetic attempts at sarcasm or the like are not only hypocritical, but redundant. This gaming industry was not invented by those with silver spoons in their mouth. Yet your implying that the only way to success is to already be as wealthy as bill gates.
2)Wolf Dreamer he is doing everything that is expected of him. hes the coder on the project. and your point is also hypocritical and redundant as you expect him to do everything on his own yet you instantly suggest the use of some substandard system by which newbie coders can create games of substandard quality within a weekend and thats somehow suppose to impress everyone.

Get your facts straight before you try and debate this project gentlemen.
I am 31 yrs old and am now the Lead Game Designer for Realms of Validor.
If you wish to debate with me as to wether this project will succeed or not your more then weclome to call

@Ralph, I'll try not to be hypocritical nor redundant. I believe the comments people are making come from the fact the lots of people every year announce a big gaming development plan with no money up front and a share of royalties, stocks, etc when the project is done. These projects almost always fade into obscurity. So the typical head shaking takes place at each new announcement. Now you've got a big list of needs but state that salaries will happen once you sell the concept to a VC. So if you can't sell it then that's lots of work for free and most likely a stalled project. Assembling a team to build the prototype would be a much more reasonable course of action because then your goals are much more focussed, your timeline shorter and you need for resources is substantially descreased. To that end, if the MMO kit suggested can help you create that prototype quickly so your VC can see your vision without you having to write all the code for it initially, then you should take advantage of the sweat of others (and the low cost of the kit).

Also, Stefan's comment, while being hypcritical, was no more redundant that Tyler's post for a no salary team to make the "Best Game Of The Year". And Wolf's post wasn't at all hypocritical, as he did not feign admiration for Tyler or the project. I think he missed the part about Tyler being the lead programmer though and that IS impressive for a 15 year-old.

Oh and I hope you appreciate the irony of calling people unknowledgeable without being able to spell the word. :-)

Now, I in no way think that you don't have a good team, great concept and the drive to get this done, but without credentials, some sort of track record, or cash, don't expect people to salivate at your offer. You'll get a much better response by looking for a few people to make a prototype. Get your capital and then make the big offer.

BTW, there is a team building forum for posts like this. You'd probably get less hassles there too. Check it out. ;-)

Well atleast a post that is somewhat more stable. Ok granted i mispelled knowledgable and probobly did again in this post but I was not hired as an english teacher nor will i feel guilty for possible typos as mispelling words is the last slam result of those on the internet that cant think of any real critiques left to give to a project.
I am glad to see a new member on the thread but the fact is that you are wrong about needing capital already to get a project underway. The fact is from reputable business websites is that if you expect to get this done given normal circumstance for your average citizen then this is how its done. People are willing to take a 'risk' in order to benefit from the overall gain in the end. Its a gamble but its how all real corporations are made such as ebay. The creator of ebay didnt waist his time fretting over wether or not he could pay the rent by working at mcdonalds flipping burgers and working his way up that way, he took a chance on an idea and developed it.
As far as the Realms of Validor crew being focussed to generate screenshots asap well thats exactly what were doing all thats going on is at the samet time im assembling a team for the long term goal aswell. So that when the engine and screenshots are available theres no stauling in development and we can continue the project full steam.

And yes MY phone is still available for debate :P

Absolute statements like these are generally speaking, not true. There are of course, individuals who are able to pull such a thing off alone, but they are few and far between. The MMOkit is a good base, but it's currently not the only thing you will need in order to get a massive simulation going.

Before this turns into an absolute flame war, I'm shutting it down. As a quick note, we have a help wanted section and a team building section for forums. Posting in the General section is not the correct place.
