Packaging Utility Taking forever

by James Terry · in Torque Game Builder · 10/10/2006 (8:56 pm) · 5 replies

I just noticed that when we run the packaging utility on our game it takes about an hour to get through and the GUI in TGB freezes up a couple minutes into the analyzing files.

Is there something we may have done somewhere to cause the slowdown? Or does anyone else get major slowdowns with it (I don't know what a typical build time is)

Thanks for any help

Typical is subjective, but generally all it's doing is copying files. The demo games take less than a minute to package. Do you have a lot of massive images or something?

Right now the project is around 14MB

I had the same problem plus machine freezing and one day I just looked at the top of the packaging screen and discovered a menu..

You only need to analyze when you have new files added to your game. Otherwise once you analyze just save your configuration by doing file->save.

Next time you bring up the packaging utility it will load the configuartion, you press build and there you go!!! A brand new shiny release is on.

Cheers!

Is normal that my files become analyzed a lot of times before be able to build? the analysis takes 20 minutes! and the built doesn't works, I just get a black window with a choppy mouse pointer. Some idea?
