You might want to ask Lawmaker questions on... the Lawmaker forums.

Yeh someone was talking about it, I already own TSE/TGE just trying to get info before I buy another engine. I'm currently using TSE.

Not many people here will know about it, so it's not really feasible to expect an answer from here.

As Peter said, the bes tplace to get LawMaker info is the lawmaker forums. Not many people here will know about it, so it's not really feasible to expect an answer from here.

There isn't a place to ask this question, because there isn't a place for forums, so since a couple people mentioned they owned it thought I'de ask.

Until you see a price-tag, expect Unreal 3 licensing costs. And hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised when pricing is released.
For all I know, prices may have been released since I looked a couple of months ago.

They have forums and people using the beta of the engine. However, the pricing is not available though targeting upper-echelons according to the forums (a while ago). They were looking at the possibility of indie pricing, though.Until you see a price-tag, expect Unreal 3 licensing costs. And hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised when pricing is released.

Search the forums, ask questions. The engine is new, I got one of the first licenses back in May 2006 and the community is still small. You can even email them. They are very good about answering any questions you have. Dont expect an answer today from them cause its late and on sunday.darkroomstudios.com/forums/

$299 for the Weekend Warrior license. Nice. That does look like a really kick ass engine and toolset. I think I'm going to have to switch to it from TSE... oops... TAT, now.

But you don't get the source code for $299.

TSE I mean TAT...whatever is a nice looking engine but the lawmaker engine has a nice looking toolset. I have been quite worried about the toolset for TAT as of recent. I think I'll stick with TAT though.

Sounds like a bargain.

...read what you get carefully. You don't get the source code at any level and the first license that allows a *Single* commercial release (royalty free) is the $1499.99 one, with major and minor bug updates for between six months and one year. Sounds like a bargain.

Hum... Darkroom Studios is located only a few blocks from my house. I should swing by and say hi... always good to know a content provider in town. ;)

Lol, I think what Anton's saying (I'n a less... fast-paced way) Is that Lawmaker isn't meant as competition for the Torque-Level indie, but for a more serious-level (third or fourth game, larger team) indie, a competition for Unreal and other higher-end engines.

This could be the next Reality Engine. For $300 it may be worth the gamble. ;)

I'm sure it's an ok engine, but a for "serious-level indie"s? Did someone call "opposite day" and fail to inform me? ;)

Think about it before you buy it: Torque and Ureal both gives you the souce code when you buy the engine. On LawMaker you pay $300 to play with the engine. It says you basically have to pay $1500 if you want to publish your game. This means if your out $300 if you unless you want to play with it. Might as Well buy the Ureal Editor its only $50.

Real engine give their Source code when you buy it.

I have to pull the flag on that. Sure you can get it with the game. You certainly can't do anything with it except make free mods. $1500 to get going with Lawmaker or $750,000 for Unreal2, Unreal 3 is MUCH more expensive. I don't have Lawmaker but comparing Unreal and Lawmaker is quite unfair.
The fact of the matter is how critical is the source code to the majority of indie developers? I think it is best for indies to utilize the existing functionality of the engine rather than adding to it. Torque has a lot of great features already in the engine. IMHO, there is no shame in leaving the source alone. Counter Strike is a mod and a great one at that.
I am a Torque fan. I would just like to see some powerful editors added to TAT (man I hate that name).
