Converting a Aste Map file to a DTS

Ok, I admit I'm a total newb.
But I'd like to take a couple of Tim Aste's models which are provided precompiled and as .map files and convert them to a DTS.
I have no idea where to start, no real experience doing this. So, if anyone could tell me what programs and steps are needed to do this I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks Again,
Vince

Unless you have a very specific reason for doing so, there isn't any advantage, and several disadvantages for converting from a .map to a dts instead of a .map to a .dif (interior). .map files are intended to be used as interiors for very specific reasons, so you should be using the map2dif converter and placing the result in your scenes as interiors.

I'm not sure what the benefit of doing this would be, though.
Search for map23DS. You could also look at something like Unwrap 3D and loading the .map file and exporting it to an OBJ or 3DS file. Then completely retexturing in another 3D app.
