TSE Lighgting Pack

I was reading the forums on TLK and saw that thereis going to be a Lighting Kit for the TSE. I already own the TLK and was wondering if I have to purchase a second one for the TSE. I don't have a problem with purchasing another one, just wanted to be prepared and have the money. Also was curious on the progress.

1) The TSE Lighting Pack is currently a work in progress, and not available (TSE Lighting isn't even done yet, so I know that the Lighting Pack enhancements are just on the drawing board)
2) TSE and TGE lighting (even just the designs) are pretty radically different, and the lighting pack upgrades will be just as different, so I can't see them falling under the same single purchase license.

I don't want to start an argument here, but I'm not sure that Stefan is correct. I would suggest that we wait until John Kabus (the TLK author) states it explicitly, but I'm reasonably confident that:1) The TSE Lighting Pack is currently a work in progress, and not available (TSE Lighting isn't even done yet, so I know that the Lighting Pack enhancements are just on the drawing board)

Oh crap. TLK for TGE won't extend to TSE. I bought the TLK cause I saw the screenshots of it working in TSE. Darn it. Oh well. What's another $50 compared to not having it in TSE. Unless of course the TSE will be coming with it's own light editor. Which... now that I think of it... what kind of an engine with dynamic lights wouldn't have an editor for it? Yeah. Maybe I'll just wait and see what TSE and Constructor have when finished. I won't mind sending another $50-$150 to John Kabus if TLK for TSE is the only solution though... hell, he deserves more than that for it.

Hi Josh Moore,
The Lighting Packs for TGE and TSE are both available to all Lighting Pack licensees, so if you already own the Lighting Pack and youre a TSE licensee youll also have access to the Lighting Packs TSE source and docs.

I think they should still have the freedom to charge for it if they want to change mind on the issue. Give TLK holders discount but still charge. "Vash stfu it's free upgrade".. yea I know just saying a few more bucks into the TSE system might help get the big machine goin'. Considering the complexity and time required to make it I would charge for it if I was GG.

I think its kind of hard to hold John to that statement. He may very well realize that it just isn't possible to give it free to current TLK owners. A discount would be nice but I'm not worried since GG's pricing has always been fair.

Yeah I agree with you Michael, but some of us bought TLK only because we would have to anyway for TSE later.

TSE will come with full dynamic lights built in anyway. What could it possibly add?

What would be the point of TLK for TSE?TSE will come with full dynamic lights built in anyway. What could it possibly add?

Well lighting can always get better like light shining through the leaves of tree's in the latest king kong ooh. I don't know how much TSE will be able to do on its own yet though.

HDR can be done through shaders

Just like any tech.

Lighting can always get better regardless of what is built in to the original tech. Just like any tech.

Obviously GG management and developers have decided to do a lighting pack for TSE so I don't think they would announce that if the stock lighting was "it".

@Mincetro - Of course it can be done "thru shaders" why do you think they call it a shader engine?Obviously GG management and developers have decided to do a lighting pack for TSE so I don't think they would announce that if the stock lighting was "it".
