Is anyone interested in using Anim8or?

Would anyone be interested in using Anim8or for your modeling tool.
I am not a modeler, but I was able to download it and start modeling. My models were not very good, but someone who know what they are doing could. Go to www.anim8or.com and check out there gallery.
I am currently working on a DTS conversion program that convers anim8or files to DTS files. I currently have static shapes working with levels of detail, textures, LOSCollision (untested) and collision meshes. Right now I am trying to get the nodes exported correctly and as soon as I get the nodes done, It should not take long to get the sequences into the dts or dsq files.
let me know if anyone might want to use anim8or.
Danny

Well, there goes all your work down the drain :P

I don't believe Matt's resource supports animations so all work is not down the drain.

*.3ds doesn't even supprt animation data, and Anim8or is, after all, and animation program. =P

I have worked with Anim*tor in the past. I would love to see a exporter for it

Full speed ahead, Danny! Would love to see another free modeling package become available for use with Torque.

If you make an exporter we would love it

We at ATOMIX Productions would love to see more support for Anim8or. Love the program and love the distribution method. If you make an exporter we would love it

I'd think that would see your exporter through the "long haul" with regards to user perception/ usefulness.

One thing though - rather than keyframing it (which I realize is a bit easier from a development standpoint), could you look into generating actual *.dsq files?I'd think that would see your exporter through the "long haul" with regards to user perception/ usefulness.

I do plan to finish the project because Anim8or is what my modeling guy uses and we don't have any money for 3D studio, Maya, or Lightwave (please don't even say Milkshape - I have it). Now, it will be finished, but please be patient.
And Kirby, I plan to create dtq files, but right now I am stumbling on getting the nodes to export correctly.

P.S. Hope you do not mind .net. I did the GUI all in vc++ .net.

I might possible be interested to add features to such a convertor in the future, mainly for stuff such as David Mathews DST Morphs but also my own plans for spring-simualtions with DST shapes (e.g. modeling of cloth and softbody for such simulations).
(I'm still learning though ;-)

Anim8or is new to me but as it seems to be a fairly easy to use tool and in a very attractive price range I'm very interested in a DTS conversion program for Anim8tor.I might possible be interested to add features to such a convertor in the future, mainly for stuff such as David Mathews DST Morphs but also my own plans for spring-simualtions with DST shapes (e.g. modeling of cloth and softbody for such simulations).

for Torque I use Blender and love it
high learning curve, but well worth the speed it offers.
I've started using it at work, instead of Max.

Has the LOD problem been fixed with the blender exporter? I did get blender (about a year ago) but the LOD did not work. I found in the forums several other people that was having the same problem, but I could not find where anyone had a solution.

Yes, very interested in anim8or, I have had the quickest results with it so far!

@Danny:
I hope you are still working on this project. Considering anim8or is free, and from what i have heard usable too, it would be a great tool to have support for.
If you are having any problems with the DTS format, i might be able to help :)

Never knew anim8or had skeletal animation, neato :)@Danny:

@James:
Thanks for your offer. I had some problems earlier, but have figured them out. If I run into any other problems, I'll take you up on it.
Right now I working on exporting the sequences. Haven't had much time to work on it the past month, but will get back on it in about a week or two. When I get a little closer on the sequences, I'll post some screen shots and you can tell me what you think.

If you need help with testing, I'll be more than happy to oblige.

Hey, I don't know how I missed this, but this is great! I love using anim8or to model, and I've always wondered why no one's done an an82dts converter yet.If you need help with testing, I'll be more than happy to oblige.

So, to sum up: Problems with animations, not much time to work on it, and a bun in the oven.
Good night all

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still working on this. Ran into problems with the animations. Every time I think I have it right, I try a more complex animation and find out how wrong I was. Oh well. I'll get it right one day, it's just going to be longer than I wanted. I'm not able to work on it as much as I would like to. Getting busy at work, and we are expecting our third child (our youngest is 8 months - oh man!!!). So, to sum up: Problems with animations, not much time to work on it, and a bun in the oven.
Good night all

Torque Owner Kirby Webber
Anim8or has been listed as a resource here at GG for quite some time... [edited] the ability to use it with Torque qould be awesome!
We could always use a new toolset. =)
