Basic Bob Mac Port

by Chris Labombard · in Torque Game Engine · 10/07/2005 (11:19 am) · 16 replies

Ron Yacketta emailed me this week, asking me if I'd like him to port my game to Linux. I (of course) sent him source immediately, and he has successfully ported it to Linux for me.

(Thanks again Ron)

Now I am faced with creating a Mac port of the game.

Would anyone be willing to create a Mac port for me ? You will, just as Ron has, earn your name in the credits of the game.

If you're not in a hurry, I could help you with that. It's just that I'll be overloaded with work for the next 5 weeks.

@Chris -- I'd be happy to. Is BB using 1.4r2 or 1.3?

From the screenshots, it looks like Basic Bob is using the Torque terrain.
I highly encourage the person who does the Mac port to use the Altivec enabled blender.cc file from 1.4rc2. It's a simple drop-in & addition of the -faltivec compiler flag; I believe it should be perfectly compatible w/ 1.3.

Don't forget these optimization tips from Kyle Goodwin, who also contributed that new blender code. His optimization tips work like a charm, and will give you tangible speed boosts.

Share and Enjoy.

As much as I appreciate your offer Bruno, I would really like to get a port done asap. If I dont find a volunteer I will either try and find a cheap mac or hit you up for your offer in a month :)

Is there noone who would be willing to quickly port it for me?

I'll give you a free copy of Basic Bob :)

I think you'd get a bit more of a response if you offered to give the person credit and maybe a little slice for the mac port vs. just a free copy of your game :) Though thats coming from my perspective... Best of luck and look forward to picking up a windows copy soon myself :)

And maybe a small royalty on Mac sales. Even if it was for a limited time. Just suggestions since I can't help with a Mac port :(

They would (of course) get credit.

If someone wants to negotiate a royalty they are more then welcome.

How about....

Credit and 5% of whatever I make on Mac sales from the website?

Any takers ?
