Purposes of IFL

I've been trying to use IFL animation with one of my meshes, but I'm beginning to think I'm making use of the wrong type of animation. When I tried to export my DTS, it was asking for the IFL file at that point before I had even made the animations.
What I am trying to accomplish is to have it so during some animations (not all), the textures will change at certain frames. One example would be using the textures to animate the characters talking; it wouldn't be used for all animations, only some.
Would it still be best if I were to use IFL animation for this? Or is there another animation technique I can make use of to accomplish this?
Thanks.

I think my question was misunderstood... it's not HOW to do IFL, it's SHOULD I be using IFL for my mesh (as per the example of talking mentioned above).Would it be best to use IFL to change the textures in animation? Or is there another animating technique I can use?

IFL is like the old cel animation, its just a bunch of pictures displayed after one another. There is no real control.
I suppose you could switch the pictures to make it different.
It doesn't affect the mesh in anyway.
If you were going to use it for character talking, it would look repetitive and cartoony. That can be good or bad, depending on what you want.
If you wanted to morph or move the object/mesh, then IFL won't work.

If you went with the IFL (which I think might look too indie), you could create the mouth aniamtion jpg's for the IFL's from within tS.
Anyways, Here's a sample I did-

Food for thought... You might be able to pickup trueSpace 6.6 then use the facial animation tool. I have absolutely no idea if you could capture the animations in tS but, all you do is play a audio wave file and it'll do a pretty nice job animating the facial animations. What would be a good way to do this if I am not going to be using IFL?
@Eric: Is the sample you have for trueSpace 6.6 or gameSpace? Would I be able to run that facial animation sample, or would I need tS?

@David: I am trying to have it so that the character talking consists of changing textures; it just doesn't seem like IFL would be a good idea for what I have in mind, as it would only be used for some animations. What would be a good way to do this if I am not going to be using IFL?

I'll take a look at the zip file you posted; however, I'm still trying to figure out if there's a way to use IFLs only for certain animation. Am I able to do so?

Is it something I would have to buy separate from gameSpace? I keep receiving advertisements in my e-mail from Caligari saying to get trueSpace 6.6, though I thought gameSpace 1.6 was pretty suitable as is.I'll take a look at the zip file you posted; however, I'm still trying to figure out if there's a way to use IFLs only for certain animation. GameSpace is basically a scaled-down version of TrueSpace; it has MOST of the tools you need for creating models for your games. GameSpace works quite well for static models, but lacks stability/tools in the animation department though.-Keith

Edit I just read your post again and you say its asking for the IFL file. You realize you need to create an IFL file correct?
