Free antivirus software?

Does anyone use free antivirus software or can recommend one for Win 98?
My Norton subscription just ended and i'm getting a new rig fairly soon. I'm looking for something free to get me through the transition.
Thanks

I second AVG. I just switched from using McAfee for many reasons which don't really need to be gone into here. But anyways, AVG has been working great for the past month that I've been using it.

I was a Norton user for years, but the latest version requires activation and I hate products that go that way. Just out of general principal, not because I like to pirate software or anything. Anyway, I switched to AVG and it found a couple of viruses that Norton had missed. Luckily they were in files that I had never executed.

I used avg before but wasn't really happy with it. (But can't recall exactly why.)

I also use AVG. Great program and not intrusive like all the other big names (Norton. McAfee). I hate constant "You may not be fully protected!" messages. Best of all it is free and they update very consistantly.

Aye, AVG is good. If you're looking to automatically scan your email, I swear by ClamAV:www.clamav.net/
