Thing is that most stereotypes have their roots in the truth. But its good that you don't intend to give up; then again most people that do give up never intended to when they began a project.

Just like to chime in on the age stereotyping thing.
I'm positive there are teenagers, young and old, who are mature and wise beyond their years - I hope I was one of them. But there's something about the hardships of life which makes you grow up real fast - like finishing high-school, finding your own place, cooking your own meals, getting turned down for a job, sucking it up and living on wellfare, then finally getting into college.
I have a few friends who still live with their parents and we, sometimes, communicate on different levels. So it's not just about age, it's also about experiencing life.
