What are you intending to add?
Estimated time of release?
I know your busy working on Looking Glass and working with Bravetree on stuff. I'm excited to hear you are working with Bravetree in supporting their content packs with Lightwave specific stuff.
You are a GG hero for anyone using Lightwave :)
Thanks,
Coz

Or talking them into giving out a special price for GG SDK owners. (pure fantasy).

The lightwave main office is 10 minute drive from my house. I contemplated begging for a copy (humor).Or talking them into giving out a special price for GG SDK owners. (pure fantasy).

Lightwave is still very cheap, cheaper and most powerfull thant its competitors. Surely not a pocketmoney price, but its can be your best investments on your gfx carree...
(and Thanks, dear Newtek, please send me the royalty after Randy bought one...:)
Hi to all Lightwavers, especially Dave, at the new artist place !

Haven't seen any updates lately on Looking Glass. How's the development effort going? Any ideas on an ETA?
Can't wait to use it!

Yup, I've been too busy working on Looking Glass to post about it. In fact, I've not been on the boards much at all.
But all this effort will pay off Real Soon Now. Really soon. REALLY REALLY soon! :o)

Dave, I've been using your exporter for lightwave (Mac 8.2). I'm having no problems getting the geometry out but for some reason, not the UV map. Now first off, I'm new to all this and I'm sure I'm missing some obvious step... only it's so obvious I can see it "P I think I've set it up right in Lightwave but perhaps I'm missing something in the export(?).
I'm viewing the model in a demo of Torque ShowTool Pro to see the geometry (but no UV map). Any thoughts or suggestions or tutorials (I've been using the one at www.krabbit.net/torque).
Any comments or help will be much appreciated ")

I assume that you've copied the image files into the same directory as the DTS file? Here's some questions:
1. When using the Materials window in Torque ShowTool Pro are the textures successfully displayed for each material?
2. What flags are set for the materials in question?
3. In LightWave, do you have the image map to be UV mapped as the first layer, and there are no other layers for the Color channel for the surface?
4. In the DTS exporter plug-in, do you have Export material information checked under the Globals tab?
That's a start. Please let me know if you're still having troubles.

Thanks for getting back to me. Here we go:
1. Yes, they appear to be ( see attached image)
2. It appears no flags are set in the flags window BUT when I look under Shape Props, it shows the flag to be Never_Env_map.
3.Yes, the UV maps are in the first layer of the colour channel. No other layers
4. Yes, Export Material information is checked.
Nuts. It renders fine in Lightwave but something is not "taking" when I export it. I have nothing but triangles (no quads) and unwelded the points so I'm not sure what I missed.
I'm going to muck about with it some more this evening and see if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks Dave, appreciate your help and you have a great product in the Torque ShowTool Pro - I bought it last night :)

Also, I had to turn on the "lock mip level" button to see any texture at all, otherwise it would be a basic grey object - no texture.
Cheers!

Dave, I should mention the above image and geometry is simply for testing. I haven't committed myself to working on a more detailed object until I've mastered this UV texture export thing :)Also, I had to turn on the "lock mip level" button to see any texture at all, otherwise it would be a basic grey object - no texture.
Cheers!

To begin with, thanks for purchasing TST Pro, James! :o)
The first thing that popped was when you said that you needed to use the Lock Mip Map Level button to get any rendering of the textures at all. That sounded like there was an issue with creating the other mip maps from your base image. One thing that can cause this problem is not making use of power-of-two texture sizes (256x256, 512x512, etc).
Looking at the image you provided -- and that has to be one of the best images I've seen put together for trouble-shooting :o) -- I see that your image size is 637x637. Try scaling it down to 512x512 in a paint package and use this new image with your object. Hopefully that will correct you problem.
Please let me know if you're still having trouble.

That was it Dave. It works! It was bound to be something simple and there it was. Thank you for your help, now on to build some serious models with (hopefully) fantastic textures ")

I am a Mac User.... Is there a Lightwave exporter for Mac? The DTS feature chart says "This exporter's developement is in-progress with the support of GarageGames." Also it says yes that it is an Official GG Exporter.
I am a little confused by this contridiction.... Maybe someone from GG and LW can clear this up.
I will BUY LW for the Mac if this is cleared up.
Thanks Jesse

The exporter works on Mac Lightwave - I use it myself.
Click the link in Dave's first post, then click on the Products page and your there!
The plug-in is always "in-progress" as Dave updates it and adds new features.
If you're looking for support, you couldn't ask for better than Dave or members of this community.
Welcome and good luck!
