I would like to know if the FTP download server is down...

I was going to buy Torque, and tryed to downoad the ThinkTanks demo, when there was no page. I tried several other demo downloads, and alas, nothing. The only thing I am wondering about is if the Torque download servers are apart from the demo servers, and if I should go ahead and purchase the program now. I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, but it would be great if you could help! Thanks, Drew.

Drew, just out of curiosity, what web browser are you using?

I am currently using Internet Explorer 6 SP2 Update.

Use a better browser. Microsoft broke their own browser with the SP2 changes. I highly recommend Firefox.

I have always used Opera to browse GG and download files, and although I have not changed my settings I now get a "could not connect to remote server" error when trying to download the pre-compiled Torque SDK Tools for Windows via an FTP link.
Others have also mentioned this problem.

Online banking, online trading, and online purchasing work great for me. I choose a stable browser over the unsecure crap that is IE any day. Thanks anyway.

@ robert - "Online banking, online trading, and online purchasing work great for me" Congrats, you are one of the lucky ones. I also hang at another community that has a board devoted to OS's and software in general. I have heard plenty of TRUE stories directly from people that have used nearly every browser ever made and they don't all come back as painless as yours. Stable? I don't recall ever having problems with my browsers since Win98. Seems to me the OS's have been a bigger problem than the browser. As for unsecure, if you think your new browser is more secure than IE, than you are only fooling yourself. I can show you where plenty of security leaks and exploits are discovered in alternate browsers all the time. Security by obscurity is just an illusion my friend.
@ Chris - buggy is another cute name for 'User Error'
LOL

Well, I can't speak for all you free porn junkies and Warez lovers, but I've never had my browser hijacked by any reputable sites. For instance, I have no fear of GarageGames exploiting my browser. @ robert - "Online banking, online trading, and online purchasing work great for me" Congrats, you are one of the lucky ones. I use Fire Fox becasue it is much faster than IE. The built-in download manager is great, and I have no problem with plug-ins not working. And all of you "I must defend Microsoft with my life!" people, lay off. IE is nothing compared to Fire Fox. Stop being jaded.

must.. not.. join.. fray.. argh!
I've done my online banking in firefox for seems like at least a year now.
As for security by obscurity,
firefox is *open source*, which IE ain't,
and is thereby exposed to more scrutinizing eyes (both friendly and not) than IE,
and consequently by definition can Not rely on security by obscurity,
which IE can.
The only problem i have with firefox is trouble getting some multimedia plugins to work.
People i know have no problem at all, but i seem to.
