Triggers: thru Scripting?

Now that I can have triggers in my milkshape-DTS shapes, and I understand about the ones needed for the default player effects for footsteps[which I got working with that latest version], I'm curious if it's possible to call any triggers out of these shapes via scripting and not source code? To get a thrown object leaving the hand at a certain frame and functions like that...? Thanks.
