Tribes 3 at E3 = Depression

Oh, they've completely beaten my favorite game to death. Im so depressed after watching the gameplay video. I was defending the game for a while on these forums, and now it seems all in vein, I was giving myself false hope. I know this sounds dramatic for a game, but I am really into games. I cant belive what they did, grrrr. Just watch it for yourself I dont have a link, but I know its at fileplanet. Why cant they just make tribes 1 in a new engine, and add renegades. I loved it because there was strategy in defending, and because it wasnt Quake 3 with jetpacks. Ok so im distraught, have a goodnight.

I agree with the nostalgia comments, it really does cloud your vision in regards to newer games. Nothing can hold a candle to our perceptions of what Tribes 1 was, and that is an unfortunate fact. Still, if Tribes 1 is/was so superior I wonder why we no longer play it?

I think the answer can be explained with a demonstration.

Not that I am all about the visuals (on the contrary), but there's something to be said about progress. The T2 concept was more of everything, and that's not necessarily a bad starting point ;)

By the way, don't be fooled by T1 player counts being higher than T2 counts. T2 was actually doing much better before the "free" download offer, which accompanied some completely unrelated massive T2 server grief.
