Don't bother having your games sold in GameStop stores; 250 GameStop stores are being discontinued in 2013.

You can read how 250 GameStop stores are being discontinued here:

I'm not surprised that GameStop very much appears to be going out of business. From what I've encountered, GameStop only sells new games and not older games. Also, GameStop employees that I've encountered are so emotionless. And they only have three colors for their sign (red, black, and white). If I was the leader of these GameStop stores, I'd use a different ROYGBIV color for each letter of all GameStop signs and white for the eighth letter; in other words color "G" white, "a" red, "m" orange, "e" yellow, "S" green, "t" blue, "o" indigo, and "p" violet.

This topic seems kind of overly dramatic.

I don't know how many stores they actually have, but just going off the 6,627 number from wikipedia as of 2012, I don't think the closing of 250 unprofitable stores means GameStop is gone.

In the article you link it mentions an estimated 2% overall square footage lost due to this.

Thanks for the information, but I don't see the sky falling here just yet.

Since the merger with EB Games, I think they ended up with way too many stores. They should have closed quite a few down quite some time ago. In many locations they have multiple stores within a few minutes drive from each other.

Yeah, the merger also means that they had competing EB Games and GameStop stores too close to each other as well - there is a mall where they're literally facing each other across the hallway....
