Any updates on the new Torque 2D?

@Torque Team: Over a year ago you guys teased us with the new Torque 2d(http://www.garagegames.com/community/blog/view/19347/5#comments). Is this ever going to happen? Is Melv still working on it? Will there be an iPhone version?

Thanks.

Great question, I'd love to get an update on this too.

err... The iphone version of TGB has been worked on and updated it appears at the cost of Torque 2D as far as I see things, maybe i'm just jaded, maybe i just think some iLove should be dropped for a while :p

I cannot provide an update on the R&D Torque 2D. Eric mentioned it in his blog, saying it has been pushed out. As far as iT2D is concerned:

1. It is not on my roadmap. However, myself and another engineer have been researching features similar to the big ones shown in the T2D blogs. I currently have someone investigating and prototyping GameKit code while I work on the core 1.5 features. On the weekends, I have been looking into a better physics solution. As for the rendering, well we are kind of stuck on that until we hire more iOS developers with stronger OpenGL ES experience.

NOTE: I do not have a timeline on any of those features, nor am I promising them for the 1.5 release.

2. iT2D did not take away any resources from T2D. My involvement started as a voluntary effort in spare time. It slowly evolved into a full time lead position. Because of my public interaction with the community, it just looks like it is getting more attention than the other engines. That's not the case. However, I have fully hooked my wagon up to the iOS platform and do not see that changing in any foreseeable future.

Thanks for the update, Michael. I never feel like there's any false promises with your updates. It's unfortunate to hear that the new Torque 2D is not going to be out anytime soon. With that said, I appreciate your work on iT2D!
