Twin Stick Shooters Possible w/ Torque 2D?

Hey all,
I'm beginning to dip my big toe into the world of indie game development...I'm a complete newbie at it, I must admit, but I do have an idea and a plan, and I think the motivation to see it through. But before I get started, I do have a question to ask the users of Torque at large, before I decide to buy the engine:
How good is Torque 2D at making games like twin-stick shooters (e.g. games like Geometry Wars)?
That's the general game idea I have at present, and it's something I think I can do on my own or with a small team. Torque looks like an attractive engine to do so, since it looks easy to learn (if the ads are to be believed), but I want to know if it's possible to make a twin-stick shooter on it first before I decide to invest in it.
If anyone has any advice on this matter, please let me know. :)
