Advanced lighting + point light = no light?

I have a point light and a "Planet" (boulder dts model). The point light is the only light in the game. When I have basic lighting on, the planet lights up, like it should. When I have advanced lighting on, there is no light at all. Does anybody know why?
And while I'm at it, does anybody know how to increase the distance of rendering for the flares? I want to create an eve online-like sun, but the flare wont render very far..

Edit: That's weird, I just played today and it started working and I haven't done anything. Oh well, at least it's fixed :)
