Bug 1.1f : material related : EOL before quote..tokenizer.cpp - LOGGED (THREED-2093)

I have had this crash a few times, it's avoidable by ensuring that the correct textures are included when a shape is added. If the texture is added afterwards; the shape preview window will show the material correctly but the game refuses to update the material in the game window. ..looming crash for dealing with that material during the same run. ..more below..
steps to recreate:
1. make a shape(try dts first) and add it to the game without it's texture(keep texture out of game folder)
2. load mat editor and then add the texture into the directory holding the shapefile
->at this point the material will show correctly in the shape preview window but not in the game window, (you may need to refresh the object selection or the material_drop down to see the preview show the material).
3. select a different material to replace the one that is failing to show properly.
4. when asked to save your changes to the material you're switching out, reply "no". ..*CRASH* image below
I can make this happen every time.
