Messiah Studio for $10

by John Purdie · in General Discussion · 02/08/2011 (5:54 am) · 25 replies

Not sure if anyone here would be interested but it's worth a look. The makers of Messiah Studio are offering the latest version of their software for buttons - or to be more accurate minute quantities of dollars.

The standard version is normally $499 and the pro version is normally $1195 but their offer is $10 for standard and $40 for pro. It's an animation and render program but it does export FBX files. Here's the link if anyone wants more information and a closer look:

Why does no one state the REAL details, ever ?
*the goal needs to be met before anyone actually receives a license, otherwise you supposedly get a refund.*

Be aware that there are no dates set for completion of sales for the dare-2-share, nor are there dates set to give refunds. We, the public, also do not know the sales total that needs to be met in order for those who buy-in, to actually receive a license.

//I removed the statement from here. It was pointed to pmG's marketing bu could have been mistaken as pointed to John.

Ha, wanted to post something to this effect too.

Personally, I can only whole-heartedly recommend messiah. If you are looking for a piece of great animation software (sure, it has rendering too but I never really used that so far), this might be your thing. It has its rough edges but the workflow is great and it has some really great features like, for example, its armature system.

Also, the pmG guys are great. Marketing isn't quite their strength but they'll definitely be handling this campaign with all honesty.

"Why does no one state the REAL details, ever ?"

One man's real detail is another man's minor detail. The REAL detail for me is the chance to get a hefty package for a cheap price.

"*the goal needs to be met before anyone actually receives a license, otherwise you supposedly get a refund.*"

It's only been up a couple of days and the progress bar is a quarter of the way along already. Remember, this is marketing; its' highly unlikely they'll slap customers in the face for buying their product. And they have already changed the wording due to concerns of some people.

"Be aware that there are no dates set for completion of sales for the dare-2-share, nor are there dates set to give refunds. We, the public, also do not know the sales total that needs to be met in order for those who buy-in, to actually receive a license. "

There's actually quite a good examination of this re refunds on the Lightwave boards:

"IMO, it's amateurish and tacky to leave out pertinent details."

I'll have you know I work extremely hard and diligently on my tackiness.

I didn't notice that this offer has already been broached on another topic (Animation Software), and I note you're straining to wet your knickers there too. If you don't like the offer just say 'no thanks.'

I thought people might be interested and posted some basic information and a link so they could go and have a look for themselves and make up their own minds. I'm not forcing or urging anyone to buy it just notifying people that the offer is there.

oh man, John, I JUST edited my post as I thought you were going to take that as pointed @ you. It was @ pmG's lack of giving us details.
This line: "IMO, it's amateurish and tacky to leave out pertinent details."

Sorry for the confusion there.

//edit in: I am just informing people, the same as you wetting your knickers here with post#1. :P (this edit was made in good fun)

No problems, but I am still proud of my tackiness. :)

I ordered when it was just a little over 50%. I ordered the pro version.....why not since it is only $40. I have ben watching it through out the day and is has gone up since this morning as of this post.
For this to have only ben running a few days WOW. I know of quite a few people who jumped on this and I noticed that existing users purchased additional copies to take advantage of this deal.

I played around with the demo a little and it is pretty sweet.

I took them up on their offer at about 30%, I'm really happy to see that they have reached about 75% in just a few days! I'm also a little surprised that there is not more forum activity here about it. I think maybe folks who are not familiar with Messiah Studios may glance at the thread title and move on not realizing that a powerful animation package normally retailing for ~$500 could be available for $10!

I sat down with the demo for a little bit, the texturing and materials section reminds me a lot of Lightwave. I won't have time to look at the actual animation until next week, but by the looks of how fast the goal bar is progressing, I will have the full product by then!

I read a review somewhere on the net about it. This program use to be an addon/plugin for lightwave and later on they built a standalone version. Found the review. It is an old one since it is for v3.0 but it gives a little history. http://www.creative-3d.net/manimate3.cfm

I'm in. that should make it ~75.001%. An interesting way for them to raise a bit of fast cash.

Ordered me up a pro version too, why not? I hear good things about the program.

Have no need for it any time soon, but figured I might one day and snagged the pro, it looks to be at about 80% now. $40 now is so much better than $1,200 later if I end up needing it.

I jumped on the bandwagon and put my order in. Although I'm not sure whether I've wasted my money now even at this bargain basement price. Impressive what people have created with it, but the product itself seems a bit shoddy.

What seems shoddy about it BigDaz? I read a lot of other forums where people were "showing off" things with it, never got a demo or anything to try before I bought. Figured $40 was cheap enough to lose and not really miss.

The whole BVH AutoRig is something I'm curious to play around with, might not work for what I want, but can't wait to find out.

I jumped in the offer myself when it was around 55%, trying to show the link to peoples that like 3d and game making... Unfortunatly I know a friend that will miss the opportunity to get 4 licenses for his small studio because he's far of internet for different duties for the next coming days/weeks... that would helped the green bar...

Maybe shoddy's the wrong word, I was just surprised how unpolished and basic it all looked. I use Softimage so I'm probably just spoilt :)

bought a basic licence on top to help that bar move a little closer to the end :) For an additional $10 it's still worth it on a spare machine.
