My question is the title.

So I wouldn't be able to develop games for iPhone, iPad, & iPod Touch if I bought just torque 2d. So does that mean I have to buy Itorque with torque 2D.

No, each engine is standalone. You'd only need T2D if you also plan to port your game to PC & Mac.

ok thanks I am using Windows 7 and i don't no anything about the itorque. Guess I will stick with just T2D seems like I didn't get my question answered clearly.

iTorque does require a Mac though. It uses Apple's developer tools (Xcode) to build iOS apps.

What wasn't clear about it? T2D produces games for Windows & Mac. iT2D produces games for iOS. It's not difficult to port a game from one to the other, but neither one needs the other. You only need both engines if you plan to port your game to desktops and iOS devices.iTorque does require a Mac though. It uses Apple's developer tools (Xcode) to build iOS apps.

@Sherman - He understood. He just forgot the 'k' in "thank you". Good explanation, btw. Thanks =)

@eb - It's a new feature I requested. My high demand for attention has been answered by the web gods. I've edited the thread so it makes sense, though.

Thanks!
P.S. I ask because I think I want to program for Win7 first (T2D) but I want the almost certain option of porting to iPad/iPhone (iT2D). A list of difference would help me know what I'd lose. It may also change my mind to decide up front if I'm going to program for IOS or desktop. And I own a Macbook Pro for compiling, so that's not an issue.

Along the same line of questioning, the iT2D home page mentions it supports "most of the features" of T2D. Is there a list of which features are different between iT2D and T2D?Thanks!

Vorbis and Theora are the major features you won't get in the iOS version. Apple developer memberships give you MPEG licensing, so you'll use MP3 and MPEG4 where needed. Other than that I can't think of anything that's missing, actually.

For iTorque 2D, you do not get 3D shape rendering or a project build dialog. Linked imagemaps are almost unusable and filter padding is highly discouraged. Those are the big feature parities.

I was just wondering if particle effects or physics or something would need to be avoided for porting to iOS. Apparently not.
P.S. Would be nice if this forum sent emails when people responded after me. Maybe I get a nightly one or something. I don't know yet.

Cool. Thanks! I think I'll start with T2D and then get iT2D also once I have something I'm proud of.I was just wondering if particle effects or physics or something would need to be avoided for porting to iOS. Apparently not.
