T3D 1.1 Beta 3 - Save Level As causes a crash - DUPLICATE

by Paul Yoskowitz · in Torque 3D Professional · 10/10/2010 (5:59 am) · 5 replies

Build: 1.1 Beta 3

Platform: Windows 7 64 bit

Target: Save As......

Issues: when you have a mission with a 4096 sized terrain and the mission is already named, trying to Save level as (another name) will crash the program.

Steps to Repeat:
1. Launch the game
2. File - Open Level.
3. Choose a level and go create a blank terrain 4096 in size
4. Click "Save level as" and rename the level - that should crash the program.

4048? Aren't terrains supposed to be a power of 2?

set the terrain heightmap to 4096.

[edit]
hold up, when you say "load a level" do you mean loading a terrain from a heightmap, or loading a mission that already works with a 4048 terrain ?

Im sorry.. it was late and I was tired and annoyed.

I believe I fixed both mistakes in the original posts - thanks for pointing them out.

oh snap, I had a reply all typed out, then ran through your step by step and it's crashed oO, using the blank mission, creating a flat 4096 terrain, and saving as. RAM usage on t3d went close to hitting 2 gigs too before the crash.

The thing is I have various missions that are saved fine that have terrains imported from a 4096 heightmap... (never used the create blank terrain much atall tbh so not sure if this is just an issue with that or if its something thats appeared in b3)

I have a 18.5k/square terrain in one mission, from a 4096 heightmap at 4.5m per pixel, and that saved ok, and that was created in b3
