Sahara is a tech extension to Torque 3D 1.1 Beta 1, 2 and 3 engines (1.1 Final soon to follow) which lets you create more realistic game environments by generating naturally accumulated dirt, snow, dust or any other material over your game shapes. It is a successor to our Cliff Construction Kit. This thread is our official discussion thread.

I just have one suggestion, could you probably include the manual install in an .txt as well? Its kinda annoying having to fix each line spacing.
Anyways, awesome stuff there Konrad, keep it up!
EDIT: It would also be nice with a video/user guide ):< showing how to use it, I'll eventually figure it out my self, but for newcomers and such.
Also, it installed perfectly, it was only the spacing and some small line issues that occured when copy-pasting from Acrobat.

@Marcus: You're right. I'll do that. I will update the archive today sometime and get back to you guys here. I am also working on a tutorial on how to use it that should be available with the announcement blog. Just wanted to get this out to existing customers asap. I promised a weekend release and wanted to keep myself to that. Thanks for the suggestions!

It all installed without issue, i just cant get it working, so a user guide (sahara for dummies or some such) would be nice.

Anyway, it's flippin' awesome!
And I agree with Bloody, idiot proof users guide would be handy. ;)
Though to be honest it all seems fairly straight forwards ...

lol, I've used unified diff files before ... but I just figured that was how programmers talk to each other, and so have always read the file and stuck it in manually! :PAnyway, it's flippin' awesome!

Some health annoyance came up that might delay me from announcing the kit. I might not be able to respond in the coming days, please bear with me.
This is a kidney stone with a 2.5 cms radius, nothing too serious. :)

One small quibble about the manual instructions though: when you say green text... ummm what green text? It all looks black to me ;) but no big deal I figured it out :D
And ouch! Good luck with that kidney stone, sucks to be pissing rocks I know.

I mean to write diameter, sorry. Hehe. Don't make me laugh, it only hurts more. :)

Should make it much greener though :)
08/23/2010 (5:20 pm)
It looks dark to me too but if you have a nice lcd it will show up. For example my 42in hdtvs I use as monitors don't show the green very well but my other 46in tv on another pc shows it great.Should make it much greener though :)

@Chris: I'll make sure to completely redo the manual install section. I'm just happy that everything else seems to be causing less headaches. :)

I wasn't sure what a kidney stone was, so I searched Wikipedia, and now i have a certain urge to drink 2 liters of water a day. Ouch, feel sorry for you (stupid Wikipedia).
GL with the kidney stone.

Yeah, the green should be greener, also there is a part of the manual installation that doesn't contain anything (bottom of side 6 "line 458" thingy).I wasn't sure what a kidney stone was, so I searched Wikipedia, and now i have a certain urge to drink 2 liters of water a day. Ouch, feel sorry for you (stupid Wikipedia).

Hehe, I only commented about the green text because I'm colorblind, it's truly not an issue ;)

@Steve: I'll check the line numbers again. They represent the first line (gray) where the change is marked. Each of them refer to an unchanged base. When you insert one change in a file, the numbers will change. You could apply changes from last to first - then your line numbers would most likely be correct all the way.
Edit: Also, watch out for wrapped lines.
Of course the preferred way to go is to use the patches, the manual install is more tedious.
Here is some additional information about patches for TortoiseSVN.
