I am just starting off in 3d modeling.....

Anyways I download a .3ds model and open it in milkshape when I do this I see the colors and all but when I export to a .dts and try to use in game... there are no colors just the orange materials logo how do I fix this? The ones with the textures already in there work but the stand alone 3ds files dont export textures with it...

And I'm sure you may be asking me, "why dont you just export it in 3d max?"

Because I have spent hours on trying to get a model to export... I have not had any luck due to the fact I get the error " nodata to export" I have messed with the schematics for hours...

Thanks in advance!

You can also reapply materials to the model in Milkshape, see the topic, "The Toolbox: Materials" here:

chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ms3d/help/index.html

You can also do this in T3D. Open the shape editor, select the model, and find the materials tab in the palette. This will show you the materials in the model. Then create and apply materials to the model. There are instructions in the Torque Documentation, under the section /Artist Guide/T3D Editors/Materials Editor.

docs.torquepowered.com/torque-3d/official/index.html?content/documentation/Intro...

Up-to-date T3D documentation is most easily accessed by opening the Toolbox and clicking the "Documentation" tab at the upper left.

Thanks for the quick response... but I don't have the materials to put in there since all i have is a .3ds file... I see the right image in Milkshape but when I export to dts all the colors disappear.
