[1.1 Beta 1 Bug] HDR too Dark, SOLVED

by Stadi Thompson · in Torque 3D Professional · 03/02/2010 (5:47 pm) · 11 replies

Most of us know, you enable hdr in stock version and it is way too dark to use, well heres the fix. The fix was some adjustments needed in the hdr.cs file in your game directory. I had to turn up my skybrightness a little on the scattersky also.

didnt really want to turn this to which looks better thread, its an option in the game, those who like it can use it, those who don't, don't have to. glad this issue is solve though for our game :). stock hdr is adjusted for the undercity level, which is why its too dark.

enable hdr by typing HDRPostFX.enable(); in the console. if you want to adjust hdr to your liking run HDRPostFx.inspectVars(); in the console while hdr is enabled, can adjust it on the fly(must set and save changes in hdr.cs file for your tweaks to stay).

water is still dark with HDR on, but that is also a known bug with hdr.

So here is the story on HDR.... I suck and had it all screwed up.

We found 4 or 5 bugs in the code which kept HDR from working.... it literally has not been doing HDR properly for 6 months. This is all my bug.

So in 1.1 beta 2 HDR will be 100% fully working. Also the Luma guys contributed a basic post effect editor/manager for easily setting post effect settings per-mission.

To recap... i suck... HDR was broken... its now fixed and will be in 1.1 beta 2.

Hah... and here I thought it was just really picky about adjustments and I was being really clever. Maybe I should delete that huge wall I just wrote while picking through the settings. :P

ya i think that makes the game look allot better though on your 2second image the sky is real blue unless thats what your sky needed to look like so thats why you tryed to find the problem as it was not the way it should of been.
