How to load AdamPack into Maya?

by Marek Krzeminski · in General Add-On Discussion · 01/21/2010 (8:18 am) · 4 replies

I purchased AdamPack and would like to tune the animations. I don't have access to 3ds max, instead I use Maya 2010. How can I import Adam into Maya with all the animation curves?

I took the *.3ds file and ran it through the FBX Converter to get an fbx file. I can then open Adam inside Maya but that just brings over the mesh with textures. No animations.

Suggestions?

If I remember correctly all the animations are in separate .max files that just contain the biped animations and not the mesh (in separate folders for full body, arms etc). I'm not sure why the textures aren't being pulled over (presumably something to do with the FBX conversion) but if the UV coordinates are being preserved then it shouldn't be too difficult to reapply the included textures.

Textures are fine when I open the fbx file in Maya. I just don't know how to get the animations to open in Maya.

Is there a way to convert .max files into something that Maya can open?

Ah, sorry - I mis-read your post. So it's just the biped stuff that isn't getting pulled over then? What happens when you convert the files from the other .max files over the fbx and bring them into maya? Those files I think just contain the biped animations so I don't know if the fbx conversion will convert those to maya bones and bring them in that way..?

I don't have access to 3ds max to export the .max files out to fbx. The FBX Convert program does not allow me to open a .max file either.
