Plan for Rick Overman

We have made our first public release of the new Torque Game Engine feature walk through demo. Mac and PC builds are available for download here. A Linux build will be available soon. Please thank John Quigley for working on the Linux build for us.

We are now folding the NEW_DEMO_BRANCH back into the HEAD and adding a few final code patches before labeling RELEASE_1_2_0. This will mean that the HEAD will be a bit more unstable than usual, so if it doesn't compile on all compilers/operating systems you know what's going on -- just be patient.

The RELEASE_1_2_0 will look a bit different. We plan to remove the example/rw and example/racing mods. This will leave us with the new example/demo (which basically includes rw and racing) providing an example of a bit more complex Torque application and example/fps which will be a skeleton Torque application more suitable as a foundation for learning and building on.

On a different note, Mark and I just returned from our annual extreme hiking trip. This year we decided to climb South Sister (10,350 feet) for the fourth time. On each previous attempt our goal has been to make it the summit for sunrise. Until last weekend, we had never succeeded. Twice we made it to the top, but much too late for the sunrise. Last year we hardly made it to the mountain before being turned back by a brutal blizzard and having to dig in for the night ...hmmm...guess we should have listened to those severe storm warnings. ;) This year we made it a three day trip: hiking in 5 miles and camping at Green Lakes the first night and then climbing the mountain early on day two and spending the second night on the summit. So finally we got our sunset, a moonrise and a sunrise from the summit. Here are a few pics from the adventure.

Sounds like y'all had a blast up there. I'm in envy.

That hiking sounds like a great experience and the pictures shows a very nice place. I'm sure you had a great time too. Great way of "freeing" the mind up a bit eh? :)

Aww...didn't know you guys were outdoorsey or I would have suggested a hike or kayaking or something while I was out there! Did I ever mention that I was an Eagle Scout? :)

Oh well...maybe next year...
