Plan for David "RM" Michael

Work on Paintball Net began again last night with our first 2003 team meeting. Very little was accomplished in December. But it was December. Very little ever gets accomplished in December...
Dug continues to work on our player database server. We plan to have at least a simple version of the player database running before the end of January.
Dave Astle is working with the player model data so we can determine where the paintball hit the player.
Lars is creating a library of map objects for use in making new match maps.
David Franson is working on the new player model, though we're going to need to find someone else to do the actual animating (running, jumping, etc.) as he is starting a new book soon.
Jeff's house caught on fire a week ago. He and his family are fine, but he won't be able to work on the project for a while.
And I'm going to start implementing the stores and player locker for the Ready Room.
More news as it happens...
Have fun!

hehe, don't get worried Arron, I have a really good memory. Hell, I remember most of the people who have written messages and stuff about em. I can't wait till I get everyone back on my ICQ list when PBN2 starts up again lol. After my comp crashed the 2nd time I lost my ICQ list, had like 76 peeps from PBN on it.

isnt it interesting how the who's on page for pbn is still up, along with most other pages on the website?
http://www.paintball-net.com/whoson.html
i assume that's the people online when the game was shut down.
anyway, everything i wanted to say has already been said by other people, so i need not repeat myself.
btw notice how this plan file has the most comments out of all the other plans
Also the paintball net shutdown notice is still there like it was 2 years ago...

Would be cool is there was a secondary side server with old style PBN setup on it like it used to be back in the day too. I know it won't happen, just would be cool. I never was a person for too much change, plus I suck at FPS and will always love simple basic addictive games. Either way, I'll definitely be there for PBN2 to see how it is. Just wondering if it's going to give me the same feeling PBN did.

Heya All... Its me AlphaAce, that voice from your past. Im so glad to see this project is progressing along and nearing release! My only concern is that with the GUI client and such will a standard 56k Dial-UP ISP be able to support such an advanced game? Anyhow can't wait! -AlphaAce

I'm not to big of a fan on FPS, although I have been an EverQuester for 2+ years now *usually play in 3rd person view*. A few posts up someone said somethinga bout the old UI of PBN.. I too would MUCH rather see that, a second server for us stuck in the past? :P Either way it's looking good, not sure I would play much more then to get ahold of peeps if it is FPS. and Alpha, your connection wont be a huge impact, it will be your video card/computer first then ISP second as far as lag and such.

Well, I just thought I'd poke my head in and put in some thoughts. A little ways back Griffey mentioned different player models and team color schemes and such. Now this might be a little intense but I was thinking maybe we could have an editor. If anyones played SWAT 3 then you've seen how you can make some pretty cool looks. Anyways, I can't wait to see this game, I miss "pbn" so bad. I think a lot of the old people will return. Thanks for another great game!

I don't know if the graphic details were said in some other post, but they don't look terribly super. It makes me think of Half-Life graphics. It also won't be too bad as long as maps aren't incredibly massive and have nothing but forest and stuff in them.

hey, jsut a random question out of the blue... but a while back i wanted to set my wallpaper background to the old paintball-net characters (like on the mousepad) but the only dude i could find on the old website was the lockandload man... is there anywhere that has the .gifs or .jpegs of the other characters (like the chick and the can-man and the buff dude?
