Dark Horizons Mechanized Corps On Steam

Hey everyone, been a while since my last post. During that time from then to now I've been busy working on serious games, mobile games and now I am back to work on a PC title that is utilizing Torque3D with some talented friends at Max Gaming. The game in question is called "Dark Horizons Mechanized Corps" and it is a sequel to our 2005 IGF finalist game "Dark Horizons Lore - Invasion" and the sadly short lived "Lore Aftermath" (which was on Instantaction.com).

For this game we overhauled everything that we started with Lore Aftermath and DHLI and made it bigger and more bad ass with tons of new graphics, features and other awesome options that will make the mech, sim or combat action fan proud. A lot of these updates come from using Torque3D to do our heavy lifting and while I know that there are a lot of detractors out there that will say "why did you use that?" let me assure you that Torque3D is more than capable of providing AAA quality options that are needed. As such we get not only great graphics, but the killer features that Torque users have known for years such as awesome multi-player, huge missions on expansive terrains (some of our missions have over 4km x 4km of environment to work in), great real-time lighting and post FX options and so much more.

We first launched the game back in June on Steam through their Early Access program. Our goal was to do a soft launch of the game by gathering feedback, find bugs and get a larger testing environment to work against and thankfully over the past 6+ months we managed to not only do just that but also find a great group of players that were supportive and willing to help us refine the game via their feedback. This feedback resulted in more than just tweaks and fixes though, we also overhauled the content from top to bottom to make it more appealing and enhance the experience all the while releasing new features and content (and continue to do so to this day).

Needless to say we are all very proud of what we have accomplished but we also know that we are just looking at the tip of the iceberg here in regards to what we want to achieve in the end with this project and to do that we now need to go more public with what we are doing to get the word out about our game and in the process the great (and often overlooked) power of Torque3D!

So with that said here is my pitch to the community. Despite the fact that we are on Steam Early Access we are still indie's like everyone else and we are boot strapping this game on a real shoe string budget. As such we could use some help for the community such as people like you!

- Tell your friends about the game (store.steampowered.com/app/266470/)
- Like, favorite and especially retweet or share our post on twitter (@mgtgames) or on Facebook.
- Support us by buying a copy on Steam. Its just a low price of $15 (currently on sale between Mar 16 to the 22nd at an additional 25% off)
- If you already have the game (or if you are awesome and go out and buy it while its on sale this week) post screenshots and videos and let us know about them!

Thanks in advance for your support and look for more posts from our team here on the GG site this week talking about some of our dev processes and stories about how we have made the game!

Awesome, I remember Dark Horizons Lore - Invasion... 2005->2015 we've got the same timeline ! :)

Happy to see More and more T3D games published on steam ! Early Access seems to be a good solution to start earning money, and finish a game while building a community.

Good luck, wish you good sales ! For sure, I will buy it until end of month.

Thanks for the comments and support guys! Every little bit helps.

I will try to post some results in a week's time for those of you who are curious.

Also if anyone wants to ask some questions about Steam Early Access please do so.

@Vincent, ya it has been an interesting journey for us with this IP. It has also been interesting to compare how things were then vs now in the process too. Engines are better and consumers are far more accepting of digital and indie games which is great. It is also nice that gamers are more accepting of the idea of a "living" game that is still being worked on. The only sad thing I have to say is that discovery is still an issue after all these years even though we are more socially connected and there are a bunch of youtuber scammers out there.

Looking good Logan! Happy to see you going in the direction of stompier heavy mechs! Seems like a good time to have another mech option out there, I've played a lot of Mechwarrior Online but the devs (or more likely the management) seem to have their heads far up where the sun doesn't shine, they have many dissatisfied customers. (They banned my buddy for hosting a network party at his house, apparently because they assumed he was running bots or something...) Not saying you should intentionally troll their forums and try to snipe players, but... ;-)

Good luck with Steam, hope you guys kick some butt out there!

Nice work so far! Graphics look like they could use some work, but the game itself looks good!
