Furries Vs. Aliens

Furries Vs. Aliens is, at present, just an idea I've had floating around for something I could enter in Garage Games' ninth community contest, while still developing systems I can use in the project I entered last time, Army Guys. In Furries Vs. Aliens, players would join one of two large fandoms that each hold a large national convention once a year in the fictional city in which the game is set. Players could choose to join either the "Furries"(which run the gambit from people in fursuits, to fans of My Little Pony) or the "Aliens"(science-fiction fans who dress up in alien makeup or other sci-fi inspired costumes). The local convention center has mistakenly booked both groups' conventions on the same day, and rather than share the center, the two diametrically opposed fandoms have decided to fight for complete control of the convention and its media coverage. When the match starts, players pick one of several classes to spawn as, each one with its own abilities and purpose in the battlefield. AI would be available to fill the roles of the team with bots when not enough players are available. Players could give simple orders to nearby bots, allowing even a small number of human players to still enjoy a balanced, large-scale fight. Gameplay would consist of reducing the enemy fans' respawn tickets to zero, by killing their soldiers, and by capturing strategic command posts throughout the map to increase your team's hold on that area.

I don't know if I'll get anywhere with this, or if it's even a good idea in the first place(so many of my ideas remain just that, ideas) but I figured I'd post this here if there was any interest. If you do want to learn more, I wrote a design brief to iron out some of the details on google docs, which you can view and comment on here: docs.google.com/document/d/1FTqt1MO0YflbQf5b1tCSzMU-YQG32eIna0ir-ElL9Bc/edit I'll be adding to this and refining it as I continue development(if I continue development).

My preferred engine is TGE 1.5.2, because it runs on any machine, I know how to develop for it(I <3 constructor), and there are tons of community resources available for it. However, if anyone wanted to help me with this contest entry, and preferred T3D(which is what I bought my license for) I would be happy to work with you using that engine, assuming you have the artistic or programming skills to make effective use of it. Player models are my biggest concern right now, as that's the one thing I can't do on my own. If there is no real interest in this, I'll probably sit this contest out and continue working on Army Guys instead(which I still need to make a blog post for). Every one of my friends that I've asked to help me so far has exams and can't put any time into this before the contest deadline. So let me know what you think of this concept, and whether or not I should go forward with it. I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say, even if it turns out to be scathing criticism of my idea.

EVAR!

Seriously, I was ready to pre-order after

"The local convention center has mistakenly booked both groups' conventions on the same day, and rather than share the center, the two diametrically opposed fandoms have decided to fight for complete control of the convention and its media coverage."

Do continue development. Please.

Your concept definitely has an original and fun setting as well as so many cool possibilities for units!

Maybe neutral units (security guards of the convention center) could be bribed/convinced to help you by using one of the furries or a green alien woman to seduce them?

Loving the unique idea.
Reminds me of Conquers Bad Furday: Live & Reloaded :D

I do think Cosplayers/Anime would be more suitable enemy than Sci-fi fans, especially when you think about 4chan's mascot.

Althought it could be a 3 faction game, but is alot more assets for the 3 week deadline.

Also I think Bryce's Tactical AI Kit would be perfect for this.

Simon's idea is hilarious.

This could be fun for cosplay. Imagine having the people have the abilities of who they dressed up as. Neo would be um Neo, Darth Vader would be Darth Vader, Sonic would be Sonic, etc. Notice the pattern developing here? With a good physics implementation this could be hilarious.

@Gilbert,
Don't take this the wrong way, but your avatar picture reminds me of either Mary or Pippen from the LOTR movies. At least when they are about to commit mischief. It is a good look.
