It has been a long, long time since I last spent any decent time on here.
And it is amazing how much things can change in the space of ten years, and even just five years.

Take for example, the evolution of TGE. I first purchased a license just over 10 years ago now. Back then my primary desktop and development environment was Linux. Always was, always will be.
So with TGE being cross-platform, it was an ideal engine for our very small development team.

Then along came the TSE/TGEA step up, I also purchased a license for this version. It was an incredible step up from TGE at the time. But, alas there was no Linux support, and I lacked a very large set of skills needed to help port it to Linux.
We stuck it out, I started to double boot with Windows (icky), and we slogged on for a little while.

Things fell apart some time around there. I don't really recall the exact details.
Some of it may have had to do with me drifting away from development due to not being willing to work with Windows.
Other things of influence were just life related.

Eventually I ended up becoming a full qualified engineer/welder. Quite the step away from omputers that was.
Alas, life happened at large and I made some incredibly poor choices, some of which resulted in a short prison sentence and home detention.
I'd always been one to learn a lesson the hard way, but really, that just took the cake and threw it.

So five years on form that point, I am now becoming a full-time Computer science student, with the express goal of finally building a set of skills that I wish I was able to build up ten years ago. (I had actually tried, but the Universities at the time didn't offer anywhere near what i was looking for, and books etc were thin on the ground, hard to get, and very expensive).

I'd be interested to hear how you get around licensing as I found it was really hard to use any arcade roms.
