Journal Land Pick of the Week

Mark the Artist Fights the Future - Here's something a little different as Prinz Eugn goes deep in-depth into the making of his new title screen showcased a few weeks ago. And by in-depth I mean literally as he peels back the various layers to the image and proceeds to details the various layers within layers. Artistic insight needed, anyone? Come right on in.

Project Updates

* Journal of dbaumgart - dbaumgart thinks out loud as he goes through some sketches on redesigning the Dungeons of Dredmor UI

* Chronicles of the Hieroglyph - Jason Z details the addition of multiple render targets to the Hieroglyph engine, and has the latest commit up on the source code repository

* Digitanks Development Journal - BSVino and the team have a prototype demo for Digitanks available for download

* mittentacular - mittens takes a quick break from his heist game Caper Corp to finish off the final little game in his trilogy of small particle-driven games, called In The Wind.

* Adventures in Game Design - 'grats to zer0wolf on his promotion to Producer and being able to announce the Sesame Street title he's working on.

* IfThen Software LLC - the latest newsletter announces the code name for the new main project to be "Merki", and a forum has been created for it. Regular columns include From the Programmer, Artist's Easel, Community Spotlight and Funny Quote of the Week

* Old code never dies, it just fades away - code_zombie has a video update for his Android dungeon crawler game Deadly Dungeons

Gamedev Stuffs

* Feathers and Code - I'm not even going to pretend to know what Mathucub is talking about, so I'm just gonna toss out entry headings: "Real world implementation of Reg Free Com (WinSxS)"; "Application manifests"; "Manifest Embedding and Activation"; "Generating SxS Manifests"; "Signing with a Verisign 2048 bit Cert" - if any of this rings a bell in your head, he's got some very extensive write-ups on the topics for you to check out.

* Radioactive-Software - dgreen02 was at E3 struttin his game dev stuff and had a new 4G Evo on hand to take some videos of the action on the show floor

* /* Why you crying? */ - Ever hear of "Wang Tiles"? Me neither, but JTippetts is looking into them for their ability to create seamlessly tiled planes. If you don't know of 'em, here's a brief intro as JTippetts considers their use

Other Stuffs

* Any Colour You Like - More electronic wizardry! Specifically, "Combining a Z80 and an ATmega644P to boot CP/M" followed by "Keyboard input and RAM disks make CP/M more useful".
