THIS.. IS.. TORQUE! - Vote for your favorite entry!

by Konrad Kiss · 11/20/2009 (4:16 pm) · 125 comments

Bitgap Games' THIS.. IS.. TORQUE! screenshot contest is over! Everyone who is a licensee of any Torque product can vote for a favorite entry until the 25th of November.

I'd like to express my thanks to everyone who has contributed art to this contest. My goal was to show everyone around what Torque is capable of, and I think that - in the very short time frame of the contest - you guys have managed to make some jaws drop.

I also want to apologize because the entire contest was on for only about five days. It was just not enough to prepare with an entry for many of you. I am confident that the success of this contest will pave a road to more contests in the future.

Thank you once again for all the entries.

How to vote?

  • Wait for the page to load
  • Add your comment to this blog with the number of your favorite entry (ie. #26)
  • Vote on one entry only
  • Tell us why you chose to vote for that entry

Anything else?

Keep in mind that only your very first vote will be counted would you cast several votes. To review the prizes of the competition, please visit the contest thread.

Nice atmosphere, nice asymmetric placement of buildings, almost looks like a photo :)

In order of precedence (gotta make it easy to crown the runners up...)
#20 It's a gorgeous lively world.. I'd like to bag a few kills there...
#19 It has fighters, and lens flares, and sci-fi soldiers oh my!
#21 I love wide open shots, this has got it, a few more things or a little more action and it would have been my first choice.

No one's voting me. :/

Well, neither am I, #22 looks great, the water, the bridge and the trees.
Just plain awesome!

Voting for #22!

I'd go for 20 too, but 19 is a close, close second and probably 22 3rd!

Excellent idea this! GG should perhaps do / do more official competitions in a similar way as this as it's clearly a great showcase / motivator for Torque dev methinks! :)

Great effort to all :)

Hmmm, really difficult - they all look great, but I'll go with #6. I'll always be biased towards good 2D or 2.5D games. The artwork is catchy and has a nice consistency.

@Leroy, ya they should do something like this. But I'd love to see some ImageShowoff possibilites like on the old GG website.

@Tuomas - Ditto! imagine my awestruck face when I opened this blog to find myself numero uno ahead of Alan James!! only then to read "contestants in alphabetical order" ;P

But its still fun to enter (and to give people a bit of a nostalgia trip as well - By The Power of Torque!). Much Kudos to Konrad for organising it and to everyone else who entered.

@Adrian: You did get my wife's vote! Unfortunately, she's not a licensee.. We'll be working on that though, she's showing interest. :)

If I were able to vote, it would be for #7.
That's a scene I'd like to explore. There also appears to be a lot going on there that you don't notice right away, but do after looking for a bit. Love the scene.

#20 for me, a difficult choice.

Each of these screens IS Torque. :)

Good work people.

@Adrian W: yes, thanks for the trip down memory lane. First thing i said when i scrooled down and saw your entry was "wow cool, greyskull castle" - unfortunatly what really bothers me on your entry is the textures - the castle wall texture just isn't right - all the line are too perfectly straight. if it looked more like the bridge but in grey and you put the same texture in the skull would have been a lot better.

The way it is it just takes away the immersion effect - it just doesn't fit in and doesn't look well (the texture on the castle walls i mean).

I think in the end this hurt your entry more than anything else.

Really cool entry though

Hard choice....all look great!
Between 15 & 20.....
Have to choose #20, nice attention to detail!
