Welcome back to another fantastic Fantasci update, We have had a wild week, We are sad to report that Ed Johnson has bowed out of our team, due to obligation with other projects and the up coming Torque School. We encourage you all to look into it, its going to be a interesting selection of classes.
We have made some major shifts this last month, completely upgrading our code, making some sweeping changes though the look and functionality of some of our game items.
However as we continue to build and adjust, our artists are continuing to pump out some of our new weapons and creatures. This particular post, im going to go a bit into each race and the weapons they will bring to the table.
First the Humans, this is the starter area, where one can find medieval style weapons and armor. these are pretty standardized fantasy weapons, swords, shields, and will include a wide span of common items. Their upper items are magically enhanced weapons.
Next up is the ScienceFiction race, the Orcs, this subrace of humans were genetically altered to accommadate some of the new technology, including laser swords and high polymer equipment, in terms of strength, the Laser and Polymer items are the equal strength to the Magical and Masterwork items found in the Fantasy side.
Next, our favorite race, the Fire elves, this highly technological race will specialize in spears and small thown items, such as grenades and potions. They will have bonuses to Damage to match their aggresive fuedal style.
The Dark Elves is next, hidden within a purposely created shroud of mystery, they defend their territory, waiting for the return of the creators. They have armed themselves with Ranged weapons, including Bows and thrown weapons, ala throwning Shakra, to keep and kill invaders at a distance, they are balanced with fraility and low damage output.
The burrowing race of the Dark Orcs, come tomind next, they have begun suffering from a lethal iceage, forcing them under the ground and leaving a tundra. Within the tunnels, modified Mining weapons and hammers, specializing in heavy powerful defense.
The last race is the Atlantians, this race of neohumans will specialize in hand to hand attacks, the perfection of the mind and body. They will have the least amount of weaponry, but they highest amount of surviving alien technology, including our next topic vehicles
We have begun to get the arena worked up, including our first hoverbike. The arena will have a choice of several types of vehicles from each race. We will spend more onthe subject of the arena, when its further along.
The humans will have the the horse, and a dragon available for riding. The orcs will have the have a hover bike and off road buggy, the fire elves will have only a fire dragon. The underground orcs will have a tanklike digger and a hover vehicle.
The atlantians will have one of the original alien hover vehicles as well as their own version of a hover vehicle used to transvers the ground below the city.
With August apon us, were looking at our next few months. Some of our bad guys are coming in, we would like to reveal our newest creature yet.
Meet the Wyrm, Creatures altered by the nanites that have began to run wild within the world of Fantasci. This is the pre-animated rendering
and finally our first look at a really ticked off Wyrm.
We will be bringing you more hot off the presses, Our creature modeler, Glinkis is a master of awesomeness. We hope this next month will bring alot of creature features.
It seems like everytime i look up time speeds by, another week here, another week there. This last week has been a bit trying on me. Ill freely admit coding is my weakest area, with terrain, level design and writing being my strongest areas. There were moments that really made my question myself and those around me. I had to take a moment and step back and rethink a few things. I had a few honest points of critisism, and some thoughts of what i would like to do vs what i could really do.
But we are still here, in fact after some honest evaluation and some quick juggling. We have come up with a game plan and a few smaller deadlines to meet. These are the crunch times in a games developement. Every team will go through this in some form or another, be it distraction, lost work, crashed computer, real life, these are the issues that a team lead has to deal with. Good luck to all of us as we enter the long stretch of this contest.
So what have we been up too? Programming, programming, programming, until my artist said, hey lets do some thing a bit different, then my afx coder said , hey lets try this,and my brain said, AWESOME IDEA. Lets do this.
So after a day of shifting and a day of writing, our artist pops out prototypes of our ingame fxs. Now for the first time, some of our fx prototypes.

We are looking for a programmer that is familiar with torque and afx script. You must have a AFX liscence to join our programming team, and at least TGE to join our scripting team.

I am working on my first large Game with a team of programmers and artists. I am a avid gamer and am the lead producer and director of Fantasci Hidden War. I have my first published game credit with Chariots as a Level Designer and Interior Artist.
