What it means to me

For anyone who works with TP or IA, for the people who have lost their jobs: this post is not for you. Please do not read it. This is about a community, a group of people, a dream. You guys are having a truly terrible day. But this is not about you.
Eight years ago someone sold a triple-A game engine for $100. It was such an incredible idea it lasted eight years. Today it died because the rest of the world caught up and evolved.
I don't want to critise too much here. But here's two things you should never have done: You should never have tried to reinvent yourself without an understanding of what made you great in the first place. And you should never have moved to Vegas.
Oh, maybe a third. You shouldn't have ever let the term "lucrative educational contracts" stop you from doing the right thing.
Torque has defined my, and many others', game development lives. We'll move on. But you'll always be my first.
Love,
Ian
