Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

@Brian - Legions is being discussed over in the IA forums. If those go down, go to their IRC channel. There is discussion of Legions' future now:

server: irc.quakenet.org
channel: instantaction

This is indeed a sad day. I wish the entire GG/IA staff the best of luck and thank you for all your hard work over the years.

@EVERYONE - Thank you to all who are expressing your concern, sharing in our sadness, and wishing us well. This is truly a sad and difficult day to get through, but there is still some work to be done.

Tonight, raise your glasses with us. To Torque!

Sad news! Still, T3D is a great engine and I plan on sticking with it for my current hobby project. Toying with Torque over the last few years helped me land my new job at BioWare Austin, so my gratitude is immeasurable. Totally pimped the T the other day. Now it truly is a collectors item. :(

If torque decides to shut down, I suggest they at least make everything open source and allow develop to make games for free commercially. That's what they should do at least if they don't sell it.

And if they do sell it, I hope they sell it to someone that can make use of it. I wish someone would buy both Unity and Torque out, and make it under 1 brand. Similar how autodesk owns both maya and max now.

Wish there was a little bit more heads-up than this. I've been investing a lot into these tools and encouraging others to do so as well. Just hours before the announcement I was trying to talk someone into using torque and ensuring them it was a good choice.

Edited by moderator - You all found out about this 20 minutes after we did.

I agree that if torque shuts down, it should be made open source. That way the users can at least work together on the engine easily.

@ Shaolin Dave

It's been clear for a long time not everything was A-OK, however they were just informed of this decision today.

Very sad news. Hopefully someone will see the incredible value in all of this (community, code, and all) and invest in all that Torque is and has been and could be still be.

I NEVER thought I'd be saying this (always figured it would be the other way around) but if it comes down to the worst case scenario, everyone who has picked up any of my packs from GG/IA/TP can migrate their purchases over to www.monsterpacks.com for any updates, etc. I'm actually about 3/4 of the way done with a full update of the Downtown District for T3D...go figure.

I don't know how to verify purchases, maybe a screenshot with redacted code info blocked out or something...I just don't know exactly what to say...and my own forums are somewhat "challenged" with the latest PHP update on my server, but you can always reach me at the email listed there.
Good luck guys, hope and pray for the best and an investor that sees the true value of community and commitment...
