Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

If the Torque Community stay organized together, Legal Licence holders are not prohibited from collaboration what would eventually expand into great Torque Engine improvements and bug fixes.

@Thomas: One may sue bankrupt company. Bankrupt companys have assets, what lawsuit would 'lean' until settlement. The work of such lawsuit could better invested on improvements then legal frustrations or public grousing. If the Torque Community stay organized together, Legal Licence holders are not prohibited from collaboration what would eventually expand into great Torque Engine improvements and bug fixes.

either way, they happily took our money and now they are happily leaving with it.

I agree eb. I feel cheated by the fact that TGE was dropped and forgotten as soon as{EDIT: not long after...} TGEA was announced as "FINISHED" forcing the seemingly logical upgrade decision to circumvent the few remaining engine abnormalities.
#925
Logistically I should feel completely betrayed and cheated by Torque. At very least Torque 3D 1.1 - Beta 3 is stable and feature complete enough to be usable.
12/12/2010 (4:39 am)
Yet I personally find TGEA completely failed to thrive, yet once more forcing me into early adoption of then GREATLY exaggerated T3D technology. Logistically I should feel completely betrayed and cheated by Torque. At very least Torque 3D 1.1 - Beta 3 is stable and feature complete enough to be usable.

Im doing my very best to never use any of IAC's network of sites, directly because of this IAC stupidity.... My personal protest.
12/12/2010 (4:48 am)
But mostly im pissed at IAC for booting everything Torque from the budget right as TorquePowered had proven they had their shit together finally and were starting to do real great stuff with the engines... Im doing my very best to never use any of IAC's network of sites, directly because of this IAC stupidity.... My personal protest.

Applause to the frustration! {Sarcastically}Bloody genius!
12/12/2010 (5:01 am)
This post is a RANT about the post size 'feature', what have been mentioned could be a RANT deterrent. If this is so, such brilliant maneuvers by TorquePowers that be, is an exact example of possibly the reason IAC have had enough of Torque... Applause to the frustration! {Sarcastically}Bloody genius!

The problem Caylo is Torque was ran by fool after fool who thought they could maintain a mountain of engines. I'm sorry it just isn't possible. IAC has yet to deliver on a completed engine and I would be more than glad to join in a lawsuit if they don't make fair amends.

There will be a major overhaul to the business.
12/12/2010 (6:06 am)
I still think Torque has potential, but I hope people aren't counting on someone coming in and buying out Torque and running things the same as the others. It was a bad business decision before and having a new owner won't make it magically better. There will be a major overhaul to the business.

Part of me wishes they could be sold off separately, however since they were trying to meld T2D and T3D into a more combined code base I doubt that's going to happen. If whoever buys it is big enough to put a dedicated team on each engine, and focus on getting a social/mobile aspect going with the 2D, they could all do well. Spreading your resources is only a problem if you don't have enough resources to spread properly.

I feel you are close with many of your assumptions Jon D, but ignorant of every fact involved. This picture is much larger then you think. So unless you have some true behind the scene knowledge, or present supporting evidence, assumptions are not fact regarding multiple product base and repetition of that sentiment do not make it any more so.
EDIT:word limit 'bug' linguistic disambiguation.

It is true that I have limited knowledge behind the scenes, but I do feel safe in my assumption that their business plan was a failure from the start. Time has proven me correct.

True, that 'fools' is perhaps too strong. How about not even close to wise?It is true that I have limited knowledge behind the scenes, but I do feel safe in my assumption that their business plan was a failure from the start. Time has proven me correct.

I just find it crazy that so many people on this board are assuming that some magical buyer is going to pop out of no where and continue on with the same game plan IAC was doing. It just ins't possible and it will never happen. Changes are coming and there will be unhappy people. Not everyone will be happy with the end result.

Your causality could possibly be at fault here, and pronouncing such examples schadenfreude.
I hope they do not continue on with the same game plan IAC was using, because IAC did not 'RUN' Torque. InstantAction was the head section[?].
No matter what LARGER outcome, I am still mostly pleased with all Torque products of my purchase, but would be most saddened to see the Torque community fall astray.

@eb: I don't think the word 'happily' applies to your thoughts there....that folding was within some overall 'business plan', and a desirable thing for all the GG employees?? Huh? You are stretching things a bit, in my opinion...

Dig deep thru your licenses...I don't read anywhere about a 'finished','releasable' version[opposed to the one purchased]. No claims to that end...??! You get what you paid for; software. Use or lose it....

Modify, Evolve, or Perish!
NB: I'm just happy that I know my way around the engine and art well enough to carry on without 'adult supervision'.....it's a 'comfy' place.

Ah, kidz; things will never be the same....that's life!Modify, Evolve, or Perish!

To perish is a guarantee not depending on any measurement of how far one could evolve. Lament the ironies.
I hope this is received in the same amount of jest it was written (because everything is endlessly amusing to me).
12/12/2010 (10:23 am)
@Rex: In eb's defense, much of eb's commentary reads more of clever metaphoric, rather then proposed inflammatory rhetoric. Evidence gleamed from the caprices of nonliteral interpretation, with a small amount of uninebriated linguistic redefinition. To perish is a guarantee not depending on any measurement of how far one could evolve. Lament the ironies.
I hope this is received in the same amount of jest it was written (because everything is endlessly amusing to me).

I believe that additional Indie licenses are on full autopilot and the forms still work, including indie studio seats. The status FAQ's "still open for business" implies it as well. My downloads still work, I know that much.
On the commercial and other licenses I'm deferring to official reps, though from earlier answers my guess is the answer is "yes: email licensing [at] torquepowered [dot] com for details/negotiation".
